I live in a part of the country with extreme wealth...I work with and for many wealthy clients..10, 15,000 soft homes are not uncommon.. I have been working for many years and feel fortunate for having had work everyday..This consistent work has afforded me a lifestyle that meets all of my material needs....There was a time when I was aggressively pursuing $, at a certain point when the fear of poverty left me, I became less hungry, less aggressive..
I always have been curious about what drives people toward wealth, how much is enough? What are your goals, how many cars, how many homes, as I have gotten a bit older that shit has become much less important..give me a roof over my head, let me eat whatever I want, travel when the mood strikes, a good women and I am good..o yea a dependable car and motorcycle..

How much wealth do you want
How much money do you need to be happy
Are you satisfied with your $ situation.

You would think rich folk could afford homes made of "hard" bricks, sure they'd have lesser amount of homes, maybe in the tens or even hundreds but atleast they'd sleep more comfortable knowing a gust of wind wont knock their homes down. <CerseiPlotting>

How much wealth do you want = As much as it takes to be happy
How much money do you need to be happy = More than a little, less than a lot
Are you satisfied with your $ situation = Yes

To some people, money is the way they value themselves as a person. They feel that they have to acquire as much as possible. Have a better car, home, jewelry, going to expensive restaurants, etc is what it takes to make some people feel worthwhile. No amount of money will ever be enough.

I made enough to live a decent life now that I'm retired. I don't need much. My newest vehicle is 11 years old. I have a modest house. I don't spend much.

There are people who spend every penny they make and live paycheck to paycheck. I have friends who couldn't retire because they didn't put any money away for it.

10 Mil.

Invested conservatively that equates to 250k to 500k a year in returns. More than enough to not work, have what you need, and afford to pursue most anything you want.

250k a year and I live comfortable in a metro area. But I just got laid off, so I would take half that and still be ok, because im already settled. As for never having to work again....4 million net and im set.

barring the basics, such as a roof over your head, food in your stomach, and the ability to have this consistently, the rest is up to your desires and wants. it's much easier to accomplish if you're single. tougher to do when you have a family to support. the rest, depends on how much material items will keep you satisfied. someone can be happy with a basic bicycle, while it would take someone else a harley to fulfill that same satisfaction. it seems that lots of people who end up rich, feel the need to maintain that level, because once you drop off from that level, you feel like you're missing out. the happiest people i know, never dropped their standard of living. that italicized part is important, because the rest of us who don't have private jets or boats, don't feel depressed because we don't have those items. it's the loss of happiness that those items gave you, which makes you depressed if you're rich and once had such items.

I’m coo where I’m at.

I was just thinking about this earlier and decided that I'd much rather make $40,000 a year doing something I enjoy for a living than make $100,000 a year doing something I hate.

Enjoying my days and just generally being satisfied with my life is more important than making a lot of money.

Of course ideally I'd like to do both.

Enough to afford to bankroll a few super fine mistresses.
