yes, sean did exactly what he had to do for the entire fight

Read the forums before the fight. Pretty well everybody thought this was going to be Izzy's easiest defense since Paulo Costa. The opinions on Sean have flipped 180, everybody respects his skills now.

Nah... a huge underdog dethrones a great champion. Why would anyone be impressed by that???

I thought he could have been a little more aggressive but it was still a shut out. Some rounds there really wasn't a lot happening and he did just enough to win the round. Izzy was kind a sitting duck on the cage numerous times and Sean was overly careful. It worked but I still thought he was a little timid.

I was very impressed by his composure, his timing and his gameplan. But you have to admit Izzy was also off that night, we never saw him that slow and inaccurate, blocking the shots with his hands on the head like Overeem (in a bad way). Maybe it was because of Sean's style, but I think it's both.

Imho Sean did what he usually does, but he did it very well this time

What impressed me the most was actually Izzy lack of capacity to make ANY adjustments and just being dominated for like 80% of the fight

Anyone can have a rough nite. This wasnt one of these. Izzy should be ashamed of his performance. By far his worst loss, even worse than when he needed an oxygen mask to get back to life

I am not fan of Strickland at all, but his performance was very impressive.
He pulled off a solid win against the champ.

Yes, his strategy and fighting style was impressive and worked very well against Izzy.

but it’s not like he put on an MMA clinic during the fight. He used good boxing and good defense. That’s it.

his style worked against Izzy, but it will not work against many other fighters in the division IMO.

Strickland's style worked against Izzy, previously the clear #1 guy at MW for the past 4 years (assuming Pereira stays at 205).

And Strickland's style also worked against 7 of his 9 last opponents. Again, assuming Pereira left MW, Strickland only has a SD loss to Cannonier where he was competitive. So yes, his style will work against MANY other fighters in the division. In fact, it would work against most opponents.

Yeah his style has worked before, but I don’t see him beating DuPlessis, Whitaker, costa, or Vittori to be honest.
