Obviously they were proffesional fighters, but compared to the UFC- were they as good?

I enjoyed watching Pride, but it seems like with the exception of Rampage, most Pride fighters have not succesfully transitioned into the UFC, at all. Mainly Crocop, Wanderlie and Shogun come to mind.

Was it going from ring to octagon? Or was just it timing? Many fighter were over their peaks during the transition?

They were good.

Both promotion had great fighters.

They both had their share of scrubs as well.

Different rules. Different supplements. Different country. Plus the Pride guys were aged by the time they came over. Of course they were good but put any top athlete from today against a top athlete from 5-6 years ago and you'll see a similar outcome

Stonger than the UFC's heavyweight and arguably Light Heavyweight divisions, not very deep otherwise and Japanese fighters of very questionable quality got pitted against top guys. Neither Pride not it's contemporary UFC roster stack up to the modern UFC though, in any division.

Apples vs Oranges. Wand and Fedor's reigns in Pride weren't flukes. Shoguns was the UFC LHW champ in a stacked division, thats not good enough? Nog, Shogun, Page, Anderson, all UFC champs and fought in PRIDE first.

There's a lot of great fights in PRIDE, don't forget at the time they had a majority of the best fighters in the world instead of UFC. Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson transitioned well to the UFC, Big Nog won the interim HW title, Rampage & Shogun won the LHW title, but most of the big names from PRIDE 2000 to 2006 peaked and were on the downside of their careers when moving to the UFC.

This.

Fedor is 1-3 in Strikeforce
Wandy is 4-7 in the UFC
Cro Cop is 4-6 in the UFC
Shogun is 5-4 in the UFC

Get at me bro

most of the ufc fighters from the same era are gone.

promotion has never had anything to do with it.

even good fighters get passed by at some point.

Yep.

I've also noticed that Tim Sylvia and Chuck Liddell aren't doing so well lately.

I always liked the UFC's roster better from MW down. Plus loved watching Chuck and Randy.

Whereas Anderson Silva has some pretty legit wins in the ufc. And he wasn't at the top in pride.

Ok well lets see here, Shogun was LHW champ in the UFC I'd say hes done ok for himself over here. Also Dan Henderson has done fantastic and that guy Anderson Silva who used to fight in Pride I think hes done alright for myself as well.

Josh Barnett was the best heavyweight in the UFC he went to Pride and didn't become a champion Chuck Liddell was the best light heavyweight in the UFC he went to Pride and lost, Nog was one of the best Heavyweights in Pride he came to the UFC and became a champion Shogan was the best in his weight class in Pride he came to the UFC and guess what he became a champion.
