Werdum really shows his greatness against Stipe in my estimation. His striking is really a hell of a lot better than he gets credit for. It might not be super dangerous, but he uses it very intelligently as a way to set up his grappling AND as a way to stay away from his opponents' superior striking.

Take a look at his Strikeforce fight with Overeem... He was using his offensive striking almost as a defensive tactic. It was really brilliant and I kinda think that he won the striking there.

I think that he'll be able to do the same to Stipe, and I think that Stipe will come to regret not being afraid of Werdum's grappling...

Werdum for sure, but I'm more worried about this fight than a lot of other Werdum fans seem to be. I'm worried Werdum is going to either spend too much time striking with him (intentionally), or struggle/over commit on trying to get the takedown.

Head says Werdum, heart says Stipe

I think this is going to be a hell of a fight. Very evenly matched. Great BJJ/MT vs wrestle-boxer. Not sure who will win.

Im taking Stipe in this. Werdum's striking is very underrated but Stipe's is more so. He has the better hands and better wrestling pedigree. I believe he can win the stand up and if he can negate Werdum's guard, he'll be on way to victory imo

Stipe KO round 1. I love Werdum but he is ridiculously overrated.

I got Stipe, he is way too fast for Werdum. I am not sure if he will win by TKO or a unanimous decision.. but I pray for Werdum its not a decision because he will become a punching bag for 5 rounds and will be hard to watch. Werdum is stiff and slow in the striking and nearly 40 years old, yes he has improved it a lot but its still stiff for me. Stipe is the fastest HW with JDS in UFC. I see him lighting Werdum up. People will be surprised, but not me, this is one of the easier "upsets" to call.

I think Doom may win via having a wider arsenal of weapons, but I also wouldn't be surprised if Stipe pulls an upset via controlling range and boxing his ears off. This is kind of a pick em fight for me.

Werdum!

Not gonna be easy tho

50/50. Just because you ko'ed Arlovski doesn't mean you will to Werdum.

Mentioned in another thread, but I'll say it again here. Werdum by sub. Stipe certainly has a chance with his striking, but, to me, he just seems to be missing something. Might need a couple more fights to convince me hes championship material. I expect this to be a good fight, though.

Werdum fights well at range & close. Against stipe, he'll stay long & uses his kicks. Stipe would look to close the distance & box werdum up. Stipe will be weary of any ground activity & this will free up Werdum's stand up. I think Werdum takes it.

50/50 fight.

Werdum has good MT and outstanding bjj.

Stipe has good wrestling and good boxing.

Just looking at the skill sets I lean towards Stipe. If Stipe wins the stand up Werdum might be screwed. He's not going to take Stipe down unless he pulls guard and I've always been a believer than wrestling neutralizes bjj.

But this is a MMA HW fight and anything can happen.

Thank you!

I think if it stays on the feet, Stipe has got it. If it goes to and stays on the ground, Werdum takes it. Should be a pretty good fight regardless though

I agree. I think a lot of people will be surprised if Stipe wins, but I will not be one of em. I see Werdum struggling with the straight punches of Miocic, and I have a really hard time seeing Werdum taking down the Croatian.
