I have Werdum.

He has a great chin, a greater variety in striking, still has power, can handle pressure and can stand and trade while taking shots. If he gets on top of Miocic, it will shortly be over. Also, if Stipe wants him down he has to be very careful, while pressuring Werdum, but still remaining calm and patient.

Stipe does have nice and clean boxing, he couldn't put Nelson out (nothing to be ashamed of), but couldn't do it to Gonzaga or Struve (two of the weakest chins at HW), and Gonzaga was gassed too. Putting out Arlovski, who arguably can't take any serious power punches at this stage in his career in under a minute is impressive, however, he wasn't at the top.

Stipe is essentially a Cain 1.0, with better boxing, with weaker pressure, power? and of course, wrestling/cage control.

Who do you have in this fight? and why?

If Stipe can keep his distance and hit him with straight shot all night then there's a chance he can walk away with the title. Werdum's clinch game is intense these days , then there's the ever present threat of a submission from literally the best submission artist at HW. Werdum via submission after Stipe is forced into a tight spot against the cage.

Don't count out Stipe
For sure. Stipe could definitely win owing to his boxing, size and TDD. Cain lacked the reach and distance awareness to keep Werdum on the outside - not to mention wtf happened to his cardio. Stipe could be far worse match up for Werdum but we shall see. Also, Werdum is getting up there and call me crazy, but I wont be shocked to see him or RDA look like Eric Silva...if ya catch me drift.

This sport is absolutely insane, count nothing out -- just when you think you have it figured out; Ronda gets take down and head kick KO'd by a boxer, Conor gets mentally broke and out struck by Nate Diaz, Cain gasses, Aldo get's KO'd stiff in one punch, RDA is LW champ despite getting neutered by Khabib and Anderson gets knocked down 2 times by pillow fisted Bisping.

Stipe is a solid and legit contender, but I don't really see what he brings that Werdum wouldn't be able to handle.

Werdum is a crafty motherfucker. I don't see him losing to Stipe.

I think these guys are comfortably the best 2 HWs in the world, and I wouldn't say todays Cain is as good as Stipe in a single area, and he's a lot smaller.
I'm a massive Werdum fan, but this fight is a worry. Stipe has shown awesome boxing, and looked fine standing with Shane Del Rosario, and has the wrestling to avoid the mat.

I'll believe it when I see it. Arlovski was on quite a tear, but we all knew it was a matter of time till someone caught him.... Again. I would need something a little more impressive than ko'ing arlovski to be sold on Miocic.

I predict one of those guys is gonna win, and one of those guys is gonna loser. Or they will tie, or there will be a disqualification, or an injury or injuries will prevent the fight from happening. Or someone will fail a drug test. Something like that.

So there you have it, my bold prediction.

I really like both guys, I think stipe may have a chance to take it. I've followed this guy since his amateur debut, been incredible seeing him through the years. Werdum has improved greatly.... I think it's the most interesting fight we've seen for the title in many years

Miocic is still lacking that signature win, but he's shown very good hands thus far in his career. He seems to have a very careful approach to fights, so that will make it a bit harder for Werdum to sucker him. I lean Werdum because of his experience against the best, but no doubt Miocic is dangerous.

Werdum with the grappling and clinch work and its pretty even with the striking, Werdum being a little more technical. Werdums striking has looked great ever since the Overeem fight.

I really underrate Stipe. I've picked against him in the Arlovski, Hunt, JDS and Big Country fights. He's won all of them except the JDS fight. Once again, I'm picking against him, but I won't be surprised if he wins. I think Werdum finishes him inside of 2.

Velasquez was out for quite some time & it looked like the altitude did take a toll on him

Stipe is healthy with no nagging injuries i can most def see him getting the upset win

I favor Werdum to win slightly. Stipe is definitely a more interesting matchup than Cain, he could pull it off.

50/50 fight imo.
Werdum has more ways to win and has more variety in his strikings with kicks, knees, elbows. Stipe has a 3 inch reach advantage and uses it well. Pressure, Wrestling/Cage control as you mentioned will not be why Stipe wins this fight. He needs to move around, use his footwork, and keep Werdum at the end of his punches and keep it standing.
