Doesn't matter how great you are on the ground, if you don't have the tools to get it there first you're toast.

I was actually really impressed with Volkov's defense and positional awareness and transitions. and his striking is incredibly accurate.

He got the fight to the ground in the first 30 seconds of the fight and had top position for a while. He couldn't do anything with it.

He's like blooming Gus at heavyweight. Volkov is also why I question if Gus would or should ever come to heavyweigt, as Volkov is Gus but bigger and better

Werdum looked awful tonight , he looked old , fat ,slow , his movement was plodding , and his offence was predictable and telegraphed.

Gone is the Werdum who was quick , clever , dynamic and smooth .... time to retire or a rematch against Velasquez.

if volkov had better fight iq he could've finished the fight way sooner. I don't know where he trains but maybe he should try a different camp

werdum got several takedowns though, he just couldn't really get his bjj going on the ground and then seemed to gas a bit

i remember how one dimensional he used to look in bellator. he has improved a lot, plus he's going to keep filling in that frame. he looks calm and comfortable in there. he doesn't seem to mind getting hit either. I've been training a lot of jiu-jitsu lately and can really appreciate how fluid he was looking in the third round while werdum was trying to get control of him.

it wasn't wrestling the problem he took him down several times and held him there. its a 40 year old trying to GnP a prospect in his prime and gassing himself

I'm a Werdum fan but if not this russian guy than someone else was going to do the same thing. It's retirement time.

Werdum's wrestling is above average for a heavyweight.

He consistently took Bigfoot down in their fight and managed to get down 1/2 of his opponents.

He is 40 ffs. He aged. Thats all. Prime werdum would annihlate this dude. Werdum is a beast. I am so sad.

he got it down fine several times
where he failed was passing guard to attempt subs

This is pure silliness. Werdum got it to the ground easily and right up until the end was actually able to sweep to top position rather quickly.

This wasn't a style issue, or even an ability issue. Werdum is just getting old.

Anyway he's not a black belt in judo also ? Fuck the wrasstlin when you got Judo background and top notch BJJ

Sherdoggers proving again for 90% can't make a valid point to save their lives

He got it to the ground several times

Man i was in tears. Fuck. So sad to see this happen to a legend like werdoom. Top 3 Greatest hw of all time. Cain slayer and i love cain too.
