Doesn't matter how great you are on the ground, if you don't have the tools to get it there first you're toast.
He's like blooming Gus at heavyweight. Volkov is also why I question if Gus would or should ever come to heavyweigt, as Volkov is Gus but bigger and betterI was actually really impressed with Volkov's defense and positional awareness and transitions. and his striking is incredibly accurate.
i remember how one dimensional he used to look in bellator. he has improved a lot, plus he's going to keep filling in that frame. he looks calm and comfortable in there. he doesn't seem to mind getting hit either. I've been training a lot of jiu-jitsu lately and can really appreciate how fluid he was looking in the third round while werdum was trying to get control of him. He's like blooming Gus at heavyweight. it wasn't wrestling the problem he took him down several times and held him there. its a 40 year old trying to GnP a prospect in his prime and gassing himself
I'm a Werdum fan but if not this russian guy than someone else was going to do the same thing. It's retirement time.
