Idk but I see Werdum as one of the most technical and intelligent fighters so it's difficult to think the entire strategy was to throw crazy and hope for the best (which it appears he was doing lol).

in almost every fight of Stipe's, nobody really presses the action against him in a prolonged attack. Stipe usually gets to dictate the pace because he's usually pretty quick on his feet to get away from most HWs. Stipe's number 1 thing is his mobility. i think Werdum saw the JDS fight and thought if he could close the distance and get Stipe into a clinch war he'd end up winning it.

after all, Werdum beat Cain's clinch, and Stipe wilted against JDS during a clinch heavy battle. problem is, he couldn't get a hold of him and rushed it too much.

No even when he trolls in his fights it's at a safe time/distance. Like Browne he taunted and trolled him when he was far enough to not get into trouble. He also tried to troll hunt by looking past hunt and pointing but hunt giving no fucks punched him lol. He also trolls on the ground begging people to jump in guard or acting like he's hurt. Idk wtf he did in the fight.
