Welterweight has quietly become

big problem imo is that around half of the ranked guys in the division are in the process of transitioning out of the top 15 over the next year or two due to age and are trying to hold onto their spots/get big fights on the way out. Then you factor in the bunch of unranked names that are in the division (Diaz's, Lawler, who knows about Conor, all those kinda guys) also being in the same stage, and it makes for a weird division.

Still wouldn't say it's the worst though. 205 and Heavy are rough

One day you'll grow up and get a job, have a family, and not be a petulant man-child who fawns over other half naked men.

Imagine bragging about not being social or having responsibilities outside of watching bum fights lmao

One day you won't judge people that you THINK you know something about from an innocuous post on the internet.

Just because Burns fought save against WB, doesn't make him suddenly a boring fighter. He is both likeable and a very exciting fighter, IMO.

The division is just strange.

Usman is at the top and feels unbeatable at the moment. Most of the top five doesn’t pose a threat to him.

Covington - He’s lost to Usman twice so won’t get a shot anytime soon. There are interesting match ups for him especially Masvidal.

Burns - I like him he’s had some good good fights. Likely needs a couple more wins to get a second shot since Usman beat him convincingly.

Edwards - Boring style and personality. Probably deserves a title shot based of resume, but no one really cares about seeing that fight.

Luque - Quickly becoming one of my favourites to watch. Unsure of his next move. Edwards already beat him on his streak so I’m not sure if they would give him a shot before him.

Khamzat - He’s looked dominant in his UFC career. Even though he’s lower in the rankings he’s likely the most interesting fight for Usman.

Overall I agree that the division is a little stale. Mostly because there hasn’t been many high ranking fights and the ones that have occurred have been lacklustre

Both luque and khamzat are the hope of a more exciting division

The least likeable/exciting division

Now I gotta say I'm all about the fights and not so much about the personalities but WW stinks at the moment

At the top we have Usman, Colby, Belal, Leon, Khamzat. Easily 5 of least likeable and in some cases boring fighters on the roster (maybe not Khamzat as a lot of folks like him, I personally can't stand him but each to their own.)

Then there's Burns and Luque who are cool but not especially close to a TS (although Luque should be)

Outside of that there's Neal, Chiesa and Brady (who didn't exactly set the world on fire getting pieced up on the feet by Chiesa)

There's solid action fighters like the Leech, Ponz and Masvidal but overall I'd say WW stinks at the moment.

Am I wrong?
Agree partially. It's more than just the current roster tho. There ARE great fighters, but still, you're right. It's the state of the WW division combined with the current fighter mentality, and the UFC itself. Commonly we have fucking Divas sitting on the sidelines waiting to fight someone who will improve their station somehow, and on the opposite side we have guys demanding excellent fights that the UFC won't fucking book. It seems like Dana "we book fights every weekend" White could do better with WW for sure.

WW has steadily gotten slim over the years. I can't imagine a guy as stiff and defensively porous as Usman being champion a few years back, same for an undersized wrestler and awkward striker like Colby.

I disagree. Outside of the top ten, it's really good and honestly, if the division had more activity, it would be even better.
If you have to say "outside the top ten", you probably agree with TS and are trying to find an angle that isn't there.

"If the division had more activity": But it doesn't, so...

I like you, but you're wrong. Masvidal fought twice a row for the title for fuck sake. Colby had 2 shots. Be honest. The division hasn't delivered.

slowly? WW has always been the weakest divisionwith the heavies, are you new to the show?

WW is the diva division

Colby - Absolutely refuses to fight other contenders, goes after washed up fighters and sits out for years demanding a title fight.

Leon - Seems absolutely hell bent on getting a title fight without actually beating a top-5 contender.

Masvidal - Basically became everything he said he wasn't going to be years ago. Basically decided he's only going to fight once a year now.

Luque and Burns are cool but they won't fight each other cause they're bros but none of the above guys will fight them because they're fucking rank jockeying divas.

You sound like personality completely warps your opinion. outside of UFC clearly going to fast track Khamzat to the title and the top 5 not fighting each other, it's still a strong division. if i put as much stock into personality as much as you did, i'd hate BW and LW.

It is kinda lackluster rn. Usman has grown on me in some way. I liked Mas more a few years back. I don't wanna sound like 1 of those " I knew him first" dick heads but I saw and followed his backyard fights when i was a kid. But when I found him in the UFC I didn't realize it was him for a while lmaooo. But thays what made me follow him. And of course I'm on the Goatzat train. But everyone else is kinda eh.

I like WW. Usman is a great talent and a pretty active champ, Colby is a character and very good, Khamzat is a white hot prospect. The Usman/Colby rivalry was one of the better and more prominent and heated ones of this era too and produced two great fights. WW also has exciting fighters like Luque, Khaos, Ponz and Razak. Its definitely not the worst.

Yes. The top fighters rarely fight. The champ is always cherry-picking his next fight. Always looking for a money fight. I see very little legitimacy in most of the shit that happens in the top 5 of that division. And I really hope someone can really break through and cause some waves.

The only good thing I can say about Usman is he’s active. I just wish he was fighting the next guy in line. And I sure as shit don’t mean Masvidal and Colby.

Are you saying it sucks in terms of personalities? Or figthing ability?

I think both are pretty strong in the division tbh.

LW & WW most active.

WW is a shadow of what it used to be. Pick any time from about 2007 to 2017 and it was way more interesting with a higher percentage of great fighters than what it is now. Remember Lawler? GSP? Hendricks? Condit? MacDonald? Even Hughes?
