Gothic Lolitas.
I mean I get the weaboo and the goth part (and if weaboo seems a little out of place in Australia, there's something truly bizarre about seeing goth culture in blazing sunshine and 40+ degree celcius heat) no worries, but the lolita thing seemed a little creepy.
As in a girl around 20 dressing up in a hypersexualised little girls outfit, putting on a little girl voice and mannerisms and then doing the feigned female helplessness act... it was like some sort of bizarre Chris Hansen entrapment.

Speaking of weirdness within cultures, in psychiatry there's a term called "culture bound syndrome." Basically, a psychiatric illness that's typically confined to a certain culture and is a result of the specific peculiarities of that culture.

My favorite one is "koro," which is the particular delusion of having a shrinking penis. Mostly occurs in China, but also some elsewhere in Southeast Asia.

I went to highschool with a kid that now is a dubstep dj or something. I try to keep in contact with friends and family out of state through facebook. Instead, I see this assclown constantly posting shit about dubstep or mocking others that don't love dubstep. Dude dubstep sucks.

Unknowingly (I didn't know it was a subculture until I met a sufficient number of these people):

Middle class/humble beginnings, professionally educated (usually highly educated) country hoppers/adventurers with seemingly no plan except that they like to collect vast numbers of experiences. Worked and went to school in more than one country, married to someone of a different country. Predisposition for being slightly whacky and causing trouble, indifferent to calling any place home. Uncomfortable with the idea of "being comfortable".

There has to be a clinical name for these freaks (Doughbelly, I'm looking at YOU for some help here).

The US certainly has a lot of sub cultures. We are a big place with lots of land. Weird things can happen.

I think the doomsday prepping subculture is largely weird.
