Weigh in should be in the day of the Fight!

Using Colby as an example of a guy who cuts too much weight was a bad choice.

Parker Porter is always on weight, never cuts. What's so hard about that?

I think day before official weigh in is fine.

I would like them to also stand on a scale while they are getting vaseline applied before getting in the cage, so we know how much they weigh in the cage.

Yo fight fans, let's talk about why weigh-ins in UFC should be held on the day of the fight! Ain't it messed up that fighters can cut a ton of weight leading up to the weigh-in, then gain it all back and come into the fight with a huge size advantage? That ain't fair, man. But if we move weigh-ins to the day of the fight, then fighters will have to come in at their best weight, and we'll see more competitive fights. Let's say you got a welterweight bout between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal. Covington usually cuts a bunch of weight to make 170, while Masvidal walks around closer to the weight naturally. If they had to weigh in on fight day, Covington might have to fight at a more natural weight, making for a fairer fight. Plus, it could help combat weight bullying and dangerous weight cuts. So, what y'all think about moving weigh-ins to fight day?

I would worry this would result in fighters actually going in drained and seeing more serious injuries in fights which would be very for MMA.

I am for revealing ring weight and if the % is too large they have to change weight classes (which is meant to be the case for some commissions). Weight cutting is part of the sport, but they need to stop the unhealthy cuts/people ending in hospital.

I hate the whole weight cut thing. Everything about it. I don't have a great solution.
I was vaugely wondering about some system like the USADA. Say the month before the fight the weight guy would show up at your training gym. Maybe he'd give you a couple of hours' notice so they dont show up right after your lunch. Maybe they'd do that twice, randomly, and then a weigh in the day before the fight. And average the three. Yes know it's stupid and logistically impossible. But dehydrating yourself is dangerous and, much more importantly, IT'S BORING. And this boring BS overshadows every fight.

UFC doesn't want to be liable if some guy drains himself the day of and doesn't rehydrate and gets KO'd. I'm sure it would be terrible for their health and many fighters would still cut hard.

Terrible idea which has been discussed to death.

Thankfully the commissions are smart enough to not force a scenario where dehydrated fighters take extra brain damage by fighting dehydrated.

Didn't they used to be?

I thought it was always that way and then they changed it for one weekend to "try it out" and now we are stuck with shit threads and a much higher amount of trolls.

I guess you want to see guys literally die in their fights. Guys fighting dehydrated or having to cram down a bunch of food and liquids before the fight isn't good.

You can't stop weight cutting. People are always going to look for an advantage.
