Po-Ha is how I think that the brazilian word "Porra" sounds. Brazilians think that this is a very foul word, consequently they scream it out loud at BJJ tourneys, soccer games, SoulFly concerts and whathaveyou.

Isn't it in the lyrics of some of the more popular Sepultura songs?

*prepares to butcher language*

"SAVRE PORRA!!!"

I thought it was "Bo-Ha" for the longest time, and it's like puta for Spanish or cunt in English where it's just the nastiest single word they like to toss out. I hear the closest English translation is "fucking shit".

If you watch that Mark Kerr/Hugo Duarte match, it's about all you can make out of Duarte's unintelligible screaming.

Even if you don't care to hear the word screamed repeatedly, that's a ridiculously fun match to watch.

porra means damn ... in a term of "damn that think!!" ... "que porra e isso?!"

no...no good in my book :)

boa means good, and with a brazilian accent boa and porra (poha) might sound the same, mabe that'swhy you took that conclusion..

Hmmm.... I could be mixing the two, as well.

I seem to recall that Kron Gracie told me it could mean something like "shit!" or alternatively "okay". Any truth to that translation?

Sounds liek what we're all tryign to figure out. Might be two words that sound the same are actually antonyms.

porra cannot mean good, but you can put porra in a positive sentence, like "essa porra e boa", - that thing is damn good. but also put in a negative sentence "essa vida e uma porra" - this is a shitty life"

what you hear in sepultura and soulfly lyrics is definetly porra! max cavalera seems to enjoy the word a lot :) by the way savre is not a word, so he must be saying something else, but I don't remember hearing that in none of his musics, if you let me know witch one of the songs e shouts this I might be able to decifer what he is saying.

if you pay attention to chuteboxe and BTT fights they yell BOA a lot, this is a term that can be used as an incentive in fighting, like resuming "you are doing good/ keep it up" in one single word (boa)

they also say a lot "faz a boa, a boa" witch means "do that technique you like"

Cool i have heard that, and wondered "What are they so pissed about?" lol

I forget the song, but it starts with someone saying: "Are we rollin'?", and an answer of "We're rollin'.", followed by the shout... Then a few times during the song, he just yells porra.
