Weakest resume for goat??

There can only be one GOAT; this term is so grossly overused. That being said, Khabib is not even in the conversation for this. Guy was ranked top 5 for YEARS (leeching off of RDA's success while he himself sat out injured) and then came back only to beat a UFC newcomer and Michael freakin Johnson? He won the title for beating Al Iaquinta ffs.

While Khabib can't be fully blamed for injuries and fight cancellations, he can't be credited for hypothetical wins he never earned either "He would have done that to anyone" :rolleyes:.

Sorry but padding your record for years and then notching 3 "elite wins" over 3 strikers is not some special feat. Jon Jones' 1 win over DC > Khabib's entire career.
 
Well Khabib put Cejudo at 6 on his GOAT list and his resume is weaker than Khabib’s.

Neither guy should be in the conversation whatsoever though.

Ya gotta actually prove you’re great by fighting people, we can’t just assume people are GOATs because they looked really unbeatable before they quit.

If Barao quit before he lost to TJ the same idiots would be calling him the BW GOAT… in other words he would get majorly rewarded for NOT FIGHTING PEOPLE which is a horrible mentality for the sport which is why this stuff actually kinda matters. Even some people who are knowledgeable about the sport just have idiotic logic when it comes to GOAT lists.
 
Khabib is the best fight of all time, but he ain’t the goat. He’s the Barry sanders of mma.
 
Honestly I'd say Henry is pretty weak on the list. He is very skilled and being double champ gets him in the convo buuuut I think the others beat his strength of schedule. His win against DJ is easily his peak but his following 3, while important to his legacy, weren't all that impressive compared to other GOATs

Yes and no. My problem with this idea is that it says "you can't be the GOAT if you never lost" in a roundabout way. Yes retiring in your prime leaves questions for sure. However, having an extensive career of dominance also speaks for itself.

I think both of them are top 10. High Top 15 at the a absolute worst.
 
Well Fedor never beat a great well rounded HW and he gets credit for beating past prime 90s HW's like Coleman with a "beat a UFC champ" stamp. He also didn't beat a lot of the best HW's in his so called prime era of the 00s, and shockingly those happened to be well rounded great HW's.

In reality, based on resume he shouldn't be ranked as a top 10 ATG HW and definitely not top 20 P4P.
 
GSP got KO'd by Matt Serra, Aldo got KO'd in 13 seconds, Jones padded his record with a bunch of MWs, holds the record for most failed drug tests and had a bunch of sketchy decisions, Khabib was either finishing everybody or 50-43ing them, and the really close fights were a few 30-27, and he had to go 9-0 with several lopsided wins against #4,5 and 6 before they even gave him a title shot, then he continued smashing everybody else to after becoming champ.

That’s not what it says at all, Jon never lost and he is the GOAT if you don’t mark off for PEDs.

You can’t be GOAT if you only defended the title a few times, that’s the point. It’s easier to have a super dominant, flawless career when you quit at the hardest part.

I’d maybe have Khabib in my top 10… I mean eye test wise Khabib is probably top 3 GOAT for me, but as I said you gotta have the fights to be put up there, but he probably is top 10.

Cejudo should not be even close IMO. His career is soooo overrated. He basically did the same bullshit Conor did with the double champ then run away to another division thing, he got one very weak defense in each class is the only difference. And the dude wanted to do the same shit and go to 145. For Conor everyone sees through it, for Cejudo I guess because of the gold medal people are completely tricked by it.

His resume is arguably losing to MM who was at the end of a very long title reign.

Then beating a 125 TJ who had 0 history at 125, and got easily KO’d because of his death weight cut… that fight should’ve never been made to begin with and it sucks Cejudo had to waste his time on it, but it means next to nothing when TJ has no history at 125.

Then he goes up, beats Moraes which is an okay win, but Moraes completely fell off a cliff after that and really wasn’t the best BW in the world at that time IMO.

Then he beats an old, way past his prime Dom who took the fight on short notice… then retires.

Now he is coming back to fight Aljo because Aljo is a good matchup for him, unlike Yan who he conveniently got to completely avoid.

I think Cejudo is really good, the same way I think someone like Colby is really good, but again, they haven’t proven it. People go on eye test and how good they think guys are way too much, they have to prove it by getting good wins, thats what matters. Cejudo hasn’t proven shit as far as being considered a GOAT is concerned.

I have Henry scraping by at 10 just by virtue of ability and the impact of him getting double champ, defending it, and getting the 3 finishes. His Flw career was solid.

I could put Henry lower and not lose sleep but it feels weird putting him lower. Idk why.

Bj was great in his prime. Most of his losses were at least competitive up until he returned to 155. After that...oof. He declined hard.

BJ is an all time great regardless of where he is in the goat convo

If that your argument than gsp is clearly the goat. Khabib was the most dominant champ weve seen, and likely could have gone on to be the goat, but he didn't even clear out his division once. There's a longevity of fighting at the top of the division that's required for that title
