As per Sherdog tradition, we shit on popular fighters when they lose. One thing I've seen thrown around a lot is how bad Conor's BJJ is. I honestly don't think we can truly quantitatively asses how dog shit Conor's BJJ actually is, at least, not yet. In the first round he didn't do badly when they went to the ground, obviously there are a few factors in this such as nate saying he needed to warm up and conor being more on the offensive at this point. Reasoning people use for his BJJ being hogwash is the exchange before him getting subbed but I think that has to deal with his heart and willingness to continue struggling when rocked and tired. You could also argue he didn't care much for Mendes' grappling submissions and it's obvious he knows how to sweep and roll out of certain locks.

What do you guys think?

ALL of conors losses have been via being submitted.

You tell me.

He tapped like a girly-girl...deal with it.

Mendes sliced through his guard like butter and crucifixed him. That was less than a year ago, I don't think it is very good.

He locked his own arm when he gave his back to Nate.

It's bad, very bad.

Keep your youtubejitsu TS, real BJJ is not your thing.

He swept Diaz with ease, and mounted a fresh Holloway, and mounted a hurt Siver.

Not to mention, he escaped guillotines from Mendes and diaz, two of the best guillotiners in the world.

yes, he got subbed twice before he was 20 years old. and diaz tapped him while he was hurt. doesn't mean his bjj isn't elite.

Holy shit you guys are on some haterade. I'm not even a fan lmao I'm glad he lost because of how ridiculous everything was getting I was literally asking a question and I stated my thoughts. Perhaps the thread tittle was worded incorrectly.

100% of losses by submission.

Guard cut through like butter every time he's ever been taken down.

Yeah, we don't know how good or bad Conors bjj is.

shut the fuck up McFaggots.

the piece of shit was flushed down the toilet on Saturday.

You seem very invested in Conor losing. Why is that?

i gues he was busy showing off his other tools and weapons he forgot about his bjj

We all know now what would've happened if it was RDA fighting him. Conor would've coughed out both his balls instead of just getting it stuck in his throat.

Girly girls don't tap.

And to TS... His BJJ is shit. Mendes proved that. Mendes is a blue belt. A bigger, longer, heavier brown belt couldn't get out of side control with a blue belt. You tell me what that says about his brown belt.

BWAHAHAHA possibly the dumbest post of the day!:D

>Hurr Durr swept Diaz with ease

• actually, Nate had NO respect for Conor's grappling, which is why he rode on high and didn't bother to secure position as he focused on punching away at Conors face.

> Derp he mounted Holloway

• Holloway wasn't even old enough to drink lol

> He escaped Mendes gullotine

• You mean the same guy he called "White Belt BW who doesn't know how to pass guard"? Lol Mendes went for broke with that guillotine because he had NOTHING left... BTW didnt the "White Belt BW" end up passing Conors guard and manhandling him with ease?

> ZOMGOSHHHH he escaped Diaz Guillotine!

A) Diaz never fully had the neck before Conor panicked and went Cross Body with a novice BJJ pass attempt, he ended up getting his right leg trapped and SWEPT.

B) Diaz used it to bait Conor, he then went on to MOUNT him with minimal resistance, before Conor WILLINGLY flopped to his BACK and begged to be TAPPED. He even lifted his chin for Nate:D:D:D

Lol you noob please don't ever try to opine on BJJ because you're lack of knowledge even as a fan is alarming

Sherdog doesn't understand context, details, nuance, etc. Your post is lost on them.

it's good. it's just diaz is better. and being rocked/gassed/punched changes this dramatically

You're right. There's absolutely no evidence that McGregor's ground game is good or bad.

I mean, if you simply ignore the fact that all of his losses are by submission, he lasted on the ground all but 10 seconds with Duffy and Nate combined, was swept from the the top position, had his guard passed, was mounted, gave his back while trapping his own arm for a textbook RNC, had absolutely no idea how to get out of Mendes' full guard, got smashed for ~2 rounds from said guard, and was begging the referee for a standup while he was getting his face cut open by someone who took it on 2 weeks notice, yeah.

If you ignore all of that we really don't know yet.
