We Need a Jiri/Reyes Rematch

Probably 1 more for Dom before an eliminator. We are probably getting Ank-Poatan 2 and Ulberg shouldn't have to beat anyone else to be next. But the way the division is laid out right now, if Ulberg does get to wait, then I actually think Jiri does make the most sense for Dom, as big of a jump that is.

I think the problem for Reyes though is that KO loss is really what people remember, it makes it hard to push him as a contender, especially as Jiri is still around himself.

Ulberg should have to beat Jiri to be next up. His resume doesn’t compare to Jiri’s. He decisioned old man Jan and Ozdemir, who Jiri destroyed. Jiri - Periera 3 wouldn’t be ideal, but if Ankalev beats Pereira again in the rematch, Jiri would be the rightful challenger.

Ulberg in a title fight doesn't sound very appealing, but Ulberg would actually be a really good matchup with Jiri because he would bring the fight to him.

Jiri has 2 title shot losses in his last 4 fights. ANY title shot for him isn't ideal. Ank winning doesn't reset that. Beating Jan might not have been exciting for Carlos and Jan isn't exactly on a winning streak, but neither is Rakic, who Jiri got 1 win between title shots for, and Hill is going to be making it a 3 fight losing streak too.

Carlos is on an 8 fight winning streak in the UFC, 5 finishes, 2 POTN's, topped with #11 Menifield, #8 Volkan, and #3 Jan. And we're gonna be picky cuz his last 2 weren't finishes? What kinda soft bullshit is this? When did merit change? That's a great title-earning run any day. Jiri has had LOTS of chances, and is coming off 1 win. It doesn't even compare.

This I don't get. It's like the Sandhagen complaints all over again, when a really exciting fighter has a safe fight or two and everyone gets amnesia. There's a reason everyone was hot for Ulberg just 1 year ago.

Putting a guy on a 3-fight win streak vs a guy on a 3-fight losing streak would be awful matchmaking.

That's not how you build contenders and sort out the title picture. That's how you create a mess.
