We made Colby Covington

If true then we are assholes

we don't know and frankly will never know, that's between Sean Shelby, Mick Maynard and Dana White. What we do know is Covington went from making 39 and 39 to 500,000 a show after calling Brazil a dump and Brazilians filthy animals
him acting like an asshole for money is another reasonable explanation

TS trying to pretend everybody wasn't bored, and eager for the next fight when Colby was coming up.

Lambert is the one who said he was going to be cut if he didn't do something to get attention.

"He wasn’t going to be re-signed and we had one fight left and I asked for that fight to be in Brazil against a bigger name I was fairly certain he was going to be able to beat.

"I told Colby, ‘You need to change something between now and then or you’re going to get cut.

so the dude who owns the gym he trains at collaborates the story. Has anyone from the ufc? I like Dan but I understand why he might go along with a story or simply take Colby at his word for it

For me Colby Covington's entire career is one of the more disturbing sagas since I have been a fan. It's part of the reason I've stopped watching and caring about the sport so much in recent years. The fact that two world class athletes had to resort to slandering each other in the media and sucker punching in parking lots to keep their jobs really doesn't make me excited for the future. What's your take? Did the McGregor era take the UFC to the next level or ruin the product?

You're soft that's all

UFC's WWE style marketing will only get worse. Conor throwing the handcart into a bus window and it being used as a promo was enough for everyone to read the writing on the wall. If you want serious high level MMA you will not get it consistently from the UFC. We have Fight Night cards littered with nobodies. BMF belts and other nonsense. Power Slap. And tons of undeserved title shots.

UFC is dying. UFC is definitely making more money than ever. But the product has completely changed. It is no longer about the best versus the best. But the most popular versus the best. Or sometimes just the most popular versus the second most popular.
It's like the NBA putting the Chicago bulls in the playoffs every year because they sell the most merchandise.

The worst thing for your earning ability in the fight game is nobody cares about you. Better to be hated or loved. I don't blame Colby, nobody was tuning in for his style of fighting on its own. He's just taking the template set by people much much better at it (Chael, Tito, Mayweather, Conor, etc).

I hate when "fans", trying to tie mma to pro wrestling today like the shit just started.
MMA has been tied to the hip with pro wrestling since day 1. The only thing to change is the name of the owner

No. You still get great fights. Poirier and Gaethje aren’t getting in alley fights or starting ridiculous feuds. They get opportunities because they’re great performers inside the cage. Islam, Usman, Izzy, Volk, Stipe, Jan, etc. are all terrible on the mic.

The promotional side makes it a little easier for a great fighter to fast track or an average fighter to stay relevant, that’s all.

You actually believe the UFC was going to cut him? That story has never been corroborated by Hunter or Dana.
I believe a fighter has never been cut in the UFC that had a win streak bc they were too boring. Only fighter that have been cut on a win was normally bc of failed tests, or multiple weight misses.

Has there any been any definitive proof substantiating what Covington has said about almost being cut being the reason he started his bullshit?
Dana was asked during a conference interview, he pretty much said "he had no idea what happened during negotiations" kind of threw it under the bus without burying Colby

Give the man a break, he went to HS at Thurston High, the same place school shooter Kip Kinkel went to. The trauma is real!
