As much as I disliked Romero at first for doing stuff such as pouring water on himself or grabbing the fence, I just can't deny how great his journey has been in MMA.

Can't remember any guy in MMA history that can dominate the way he does at his age. I mean, there have been guys who have had great wins even passed 40 years old but not in the same way as Romero.

The guy is 41 years old and is a freakin beast. One of the most feared guys in the division.

I mean who does that? What 40+ year old has been so dominate?

Only guy who has topped him is Whittaker, but Whittaker is without a single doubt the best guy in the MW division. Rewatched the fight a few days ago and it was a hell of a fight.

Anyway, just wanted to take this moment to point out how crazy it is to have a 41 year old fighter running through the best guys.

imagine if he'd entered mma In the early 2000's at the peak of his wrestling career.

He's a monster, It's hard to imagine how good he would've been if he'd entered MMA during his physical peak.

Him and DC are incredible to be doing what they’re doing at their age and both starting their MMA careers past their physical primes. Romero definitely grew on me a lot through the years. Happy he did what he did to Kennedy. His highlight reel is up there as one of the best this sport has seen. That’s saying a lot considering how few fights he’s had. He’s S C A R Y.

I LUHHHH U BOI

Whittaker takes the rematch though.

Yea, it's pretty crazy.

Like him or not, can't deny the guy is a beast.

I do think Whittaker will win the rematch, but not without another war. Whittaker is the only guy I see beating Romero anyway.

I don't look like that at 38... but still have some time until 41. Wrestling... these guys are freaks, add Henderson and Couture.

so what youre saying is... he's a once in a lifetime athlete?

<30>

edit: (no, a once ever athlete)

He's definitely a monster. Wonder how long he can keep it up for.

He's really not as impressive as some of you make out, not when comparing him to actual impressive fighters. He hasn't won any titles and his performances are actually quite lackluster when he doesn't blast his opponents skull in.You just think that because you're enamored with his physique.

Jon Jones was 23 fucking years of age when he was mopping the competition up. That's shocking. Not a guy who took little damage on his body and came into the game late with a Jon Jones-esque supplement regimen.

Randy Couture won the title at 43
As great as Randy was, he wasn't the same beast as Romero. People didn't fear him the way everyone in the MW division fear Romero.

yeah, I agree. For context, think about how much Vitor has declined and Rashad Evans. What's amazing not that he can just find ways to win, working around his age related deficits. It seems he totally defies age, winning through otherwordly explosiveness, speed, and athleticism, as well as skill of course. He is definitely a strange anomaly.

Randy Couture was a double champ & started mma in his 30's, wtf are you talking about, Yoel doesn't even have a title.

I've been on the Flying Knee KO Warwagon For Gay Jesus since seeming him in Strikeforce. Just unbelievable athleticism and learning ability.

Cmon, don't compare a 41 year old guy to a 23 years old 6"4 guy who towered everyone in his division.

Derek Brunson, Tim Kennedy, Lyoto Machida, Ronaldo Souza, Chris Weidman, Luke Rockhold...

Is not impressive?

"He hasn't won a title"?

Bisping won a title, would he beat Yoel in a fight?

Get the fuck outta here

Randy Couture won the title at 43

Couture had a TUE though and was allowed to be on testosterone which is a massive part of his late career success.

Great fighter, but I think he loses a rematch to rockhold and Weidman as well as his upcoming fight with Whittaker.

I also think jacare beat him in the first fight, even tho I think Romero would win that rematch.

He is sherdogs favorite fighter right now besides maybe Khabib so I'm sure many disagree with me.

Honestly don't think Silvas reign of terror would have happened if Yoel started his career straight out of the olympics
