I mean I can appreciate the defensive and technical aspect as much as the next guy, but at the end of the day it's fights like these that echo through history.

I feel like this was the last fight where two high profile fighters just went in there, both bit down on their mouthpiece and said "fuck it, I know I'm gonna get hit but I'm gonna try to hit you even harder".

I know there have been a few moments like this here and there, but to just go balls out from the opening bell and keep it up for 9 minutes until one guy dropped is unheard of these days.

I said high profile, I’m sure two bums at your local bar could have a balls to the wall fight, but no one would care or notice.

These were two names who have earned their money, and were both on the verge of retirement, but they still went out there and completely threw caution to the wind and put on a show, that’s pretty rare.

That’s obviously not a high profile. fight by any metric lol, no casual has ever heard of Matt Schnell, and even the majority of hard-cores don’t know who Sumudaerji is.

Chimaev versus Burns was good, but still not comparable, and there was no finish.
