At first, I thought:
1) Conor Hyper train was derailed....
2) There goes the most anticipated rematch in WMMA's.

But then... think about this:
1) Conor
Now Zuffa is back in control.
Conor will have to settle down and defend his title.
Either against Frankie or Aldo, this fight will bring Conor back to the top (with a win), or free the division and allow Conor to fluctuate wherever he wants.

2) Miesha
This is even better for Zuffa.
Now Ronda can come back with a fight she not only has better chances to win, but she would not be haunted by the KO.
Her confidence will be back up against Miesha, and a win would setup a rematch with Holy with her again on top, and now aware of how good Holy could be.
And if Miesha wins, she solidifies herself as a true champion who beat her nemesis.
Heck a rematch then with Holm would be even bigger and would take the division away from Ronda (who would probably leave MMA to do movies instead).

I don't think this is a bad deal for the UFC.
WHat say you??

It is a change for the UFC. It gives Meisah new life in the UFC and Holly and Ronda have a marketable matchup no matter what. Not as big perhaps as it would have been but now Meisha has new interest. Holly has some holes to fix and it may be that she just matches up against the overly aggressive style Ronda showed. Ronda should be working take downs like crazy , old fashioned wrestling double legs style.

I dunno but uncle Dana was so sad he got drunk and woke up this morning with a mike Tyson tattoo on his face.

Bad and good.

What do they do with Nate? He just beat the biggest star in the UFC but I don't see him getting a LW title shot for a win at WW against a FW. RDA likely mauls him again anyway and they are left with an unmarketable champ.

I think they're happy with the outcome of the WBW fight because it's a chance for Ronda to become champion again be and the face of the company, and she doesn't even have to go through Holly to do it.

i will argue that the ronda and conor loses were bad for zuffa. mainly, because they lose to fighters who they can't build rematches with, and make more money overall. you can't say that about holly, though. holly and meisha will more than likely fight again, because neither one is going to retire, and because it went all five rounds.

conor losing is not good, it takes away from his unbeatable aura. its not a disaster since people will blame it on weightclass but it does hurt a little.

tate winning is great for zuffa. they can make tate vs ronda 3. either ronda wins and will do good ppv numbers as champ like before, or tate wins and they have a legit champion with personality and T&A.

nobody really cares about holm. most her fans are the ex-cyborg fans

The odd thing is everyone thinks UFC top fighters losing hurts them when its the direct opposite .Rematches or a losing fighter who fights again always draws more attention , Tate /Ronda 3 will be more competitive than Holm /Rousey 2,as i see Holm not lasting long at all if she hits the ground with Rousey and that is the likely scenario that coupled with Tate knowing Rousey better than anyone , i think its a pretty even fight.

They will always try their hardest to turn things around. Anderson lost, GSP retired, Brock lost, Chuck lost, Ronda lost and now Conor lost. Life moves on.

Personally, I think it was bad for Holly to lose to Meisha. The build up, a sellable rematch for Ronda was passable to the mainstream because it was being presented as some kind of historic upset, but now you're going to reward a fighter in Ronda who got outclassed and KO'ed in her previous fight an immediate title shot against a different opponent? OOOOKKKKK...

To me, their agenda takes front and center, and there won't be enough smoke they'll attempt to create to sell the fight to mask that it's clear they need Ronda as the champ to sell more PPV's, and gain higher return.

I don't think RDA is unmarketable champ at all. If anything, he is looking like Robbie Lawler. If they hype him well, he could be a beast for them.

It's problematic for UFC 200.

But long-term Conor being humbled is probably good for Zuffa, and they now have reason to believe that Holm is beatable and Rousey can get back on top.

bad. the conor train and the holm/rousey rematch are down the tubes.
