Was there an explanation why James Franco was ghost casted in Alien: Covenant?

In truth that really was the only thing to hope for, so I guess the movie delivered.

If they did make a continuation of Alien Covenant where would they go with it do you think?

David accomplished his goal of creating a perfect lifeform and has an entire ship filled with people he can use for breeding purposes

I guess you could continue it with someone waking up on the ship and having to fight David or maybe you have David head back to Earth and try to kill all of them

He was in the film very briefly wasn't he? we see the lead actress watching a recording of him climbing somewhere.

If there going with the idea that David created the Alien as we know it then somehow we need to end up with them in a derelict engineer ship on LV-426.

Honestly the main problem in these Alien prequels is the writing is fucking abysmal, I suspect most likely the product of Fox execs trying to micromanage everything. You actually notice a bad script more in an otherwise decent production compared to say the Starwars sequels.

Based on past experience, my best guess is that David will do all kinds of interesting experiments on the passengers, but it will be done off camera and he might leave a drawing or two around about it.

David will be the only one alive, but fortunately a new ship full of new characters, including a guy named Minnesota, will stumble upon David's ship in interstellar space and yadda yadda...

Anyway, your ideas sound better. There could be a whole "Space Hostel" movie of David's house of horrors on that ship, which could be decent...hypothetically.

The predictable plot would be tying in the story that the eggs in 1979 Alien are the colonists on the Covenant.

The 64,000 dollar question is would Ridley do something that predictable? I think Ridley would try for something original that we can't see how it ties in right now. Despite the missteps of Prometheus and Covenant(especially Covenant) I do think their is a lot of originality in the movies.

I would guess he going to somehow tie in LV-426 and the giant Space Jockey but I would assume it's not going to be obvious from what we know so far. Hopefully he has some more interesting Engineer lure in the next movie instead of just killing off whatever the fuck those donks were in Covenant(hopefully they were just some creations of the Engineers)

It would be a somewhat interesting way to work in the deleted eggmorphing from 1979.

And since Ridley seems hell bent on making sure everything Alien has his stamp on it instead of Giger or James Cameron, it wouldn't surprise me.

The true Frankenstein outcome will be that David is the Space Jockey. He figured he was safe from the goo because he isn't biologically living, but he made such an effective weapon with his experiments on the black goo that it crosses that "species" threshold and he authors his own demise.

Could probably start to explain the biomechanoid nature of the xenomorphs. The stuff you see in Prometheus and Covenant is 100% biological, but by the time we're at Alien in 1979, it looks like it's three quarters bug monster and 25% car parts. Possibly from assimilating with David because his hubris got the better of him...

I don't think they are close to the start of Alien

I think we need at least another movie to get there if that.

David still needs to do is find another Engineer with another ship..The same Engineers that David exterminated in the second movie.

He needs to make the million eggs we saw in the derelict ship

He needs to infect the Engineer with the xenomorph with an egg in order to get the chest-burster remains that we saw in Alien

Took me many years to even realize that is what was going on in that scene

It's very subtle and I only found out because I heard someone else talk about it and I was like WTF?

I went back and watched it and sure enough, these fuckers are turning into eggs

Thats kinda Jurassic Park shit

Life will find a way

Aliens can create eggs without the need for a queen

Katherine Waterston looks way better with long hair.
latest

Waterston's character was written as too weak and weepy in Covenant IMHO, I mean I think the only other thing I'v seen her in was Inherent Vice and she was obviously capable of more than that(beyond being spanked ;)).

I'd guess if another film gets made in this story arc it will be something like David gets hold of another of the enginers ships and plans to return to earth with a hold full of eggs to destroy it only for someone(Waterston?) to sabotage things and the ship crashes on LV-426 with ac mentioned David in the spacejockey biosuit.

Really though if they must carry things on I preffer they just rebooted the original, get some talented people involved give them a decent but not gigantic budget(say $70-80 million) and allow them freedom to make what they want within that basic story.

My favorite part was when it was revealed that david won the fight and was pretending to be the other guy.

Like they wouldn't have a fail-safe to prove which android is which.

I refuse to believe that a society that can galaxy travel can be fooled as easily as changing from a British accent to an American one.

And the engineers were cooler when they were elephant people

He changed his hair bro. Totally undetectable.
