Was the Conor bus rush a set-up for Conor vs GSP?

I think Conor might of intentionally rushed the bus with his crew to draw attention to himself and drum up ridiculous attention for a potential fight with GSP, which the UFC always wanted...

This stupid stunt just raised his profile and all publicity is good publicity, unless you murder or rape someone.

Yes Conor is being charged with assault etc...
Yes Conor can be sued and some people are saying they will...

But I feel Conor's legal team will simply argue that people injured by the bus thrashing was unintentional, and intent does matter, legally speaking. You can really injure someone badly, but as long as you didn't intentionally target an individual, prosecution of such crimes are hard to press, even worse, I can picture the fighters not pressing charges (nobody likes drawn out legal battles) in exchange for modest cash settlements.

Dana will spin the event later and will simply say "Conor did something stupid and emotional which we as a company vehemently oppose, but at the end of the day, he was really bothered that a member of his team was basically surrounded by and assaulted (slapped) by Khabib's entourage and that caused him to go on a tear, Conor's got that loyalty in him. Now it appears that George St. Pierre, the nicest guy in the world wants to teach him a lesson in civility and we're not going to stand in the way of that. If George wants to teach Conor a lesson, the octagon is the best and safest place for that."

I don't think the UFC will ever put Conor in the octagon with anybody but GSP first and foremost because it is the biggest fight. If Conor loses, he won't lose marketability in the same way had he fought someone his size, so, fights against Khabib or anyone else can still be made after their biggest money fight, which would be against GSP.

This is just my Edgy Bravo conspiracy theory.

Could be...def a publicity stunt of some sort.

I can't believe I even opened this thread, much less replied twice. I liked the guy who said "could be"'s message, but then he edited it and made it clear he was actually serious and not just sarcastic... lol. The answer is absolutely not and the fact I'm still typing means that, yeah you win in the end. Wasted my time.

Good chance, for sure. Remember, WME is an ENTERTAINMENT company, not an MMA company. They think Habib is going to win (which, strong likelihood), and this sets up a huge PR push for Conor vs Habib.

Just a theory...

Whether I'm wrong or right about a set-up for GSP, the point is, I think Conor did it to either build up a fight or simply keep his name going strong in the media. I have strong doubts the bus thrashing was true rage.

No. He was likely on drugs
this and he is just that kind of POS human being.

3 fights got cancelled, fighters injured.

What a price to pay for hyping. Ruining a PPV, hurting fighters with glass, fighters who spent a months preparing for fights, probably sued by the guys who he hurt with his stupidity.

yeah hype.

I think all the fights are back on except for the Caceras fight. No?

I doubt GDP would tarnish his name for a fight with Conor.

I would lose respect for him if he did.

Wasn't GSP ringside during Conor vs Nate I?

I think Nate mentioned that GSP was ringside and that he felt a GSP vs Conor megafight was going to be set-up because they were expecting Nate to lose during the first fight, if I'm not mistaken.

He may believe in Aliens but I don't think he could foresee what Conor would do years in advance.

I'm not saying he knew anything, I'm simply saying I think George would take a money fight with Conor.

He knows what his brand is and how to maintain it.
I could be wrong, hell I was sure the UFC was to smart to let Conor fight Mayweather.

Losing to the pound for pound boxing champion wouldn't hurt Conor, potentially losing to Edgar, Khabib, Ferguson, would derail his drawing power. The only reason Conor was allowed to fight Nate is because they thought Nate would lose. When Conor tapped from the choke, they had to have Conor fight him again, but did so at 170 so Conor would always be able to say it's not his true weight.

The UFC knows exactly what they need to do to preserve Conor's shine.
