Was Rashad injured when he lost his belt by Machida?

Yeah but Shogun had the speed to do it. Not all of Machida's opponents could do that.

Pretty much true. Machida was still somewhat of a puzzle even after Shogun fight. Even a young Jon Jones was concerned for a bit in his fight with him.

I seem to recall an old interview in 2009 or 2010 that Rashad had where he came off admitting he wasn’t going into the Machida fight very confident and kinda knew he was gonna lose. It kinda showed in the fight, Rashad had the speed but just didn’t look confident and somewhat akward standing with him because he knew have the skills or technique to stand with him. After this fight Rashad kinda went back to his roots and fought more “boring” and became more hated than he already was.

Realistically any version of Rashad even after Machida started losing was always a bad match up for him. Maybe he would do better later on but he fought Machida at like the worst time for himself.

Rashad has a game plan to "frustrate" machida while waiting for his openings. Even his coaches were telling him the boos means he's winning. Machida gave him basically nothing and he basically threw out his gameplan. He also fought like a boxer too much at that point.

Exactly this, Rashad Always had speed advantage when closing the distance or stepping into punching range. Something he completely lost against Machida and not because he was slower but due to Machidas timing/reactions and distance management.

Yep Machida was really good and Rashad was probably above average at best.

One of Machidas biggest strength was disrupting rhythm. That counter into left straight he always did is the perfect example of that.

I just remember Rashad was overusing feints in this fight. It was actually quite comical, Rashad was using head fakes over and over with no reaction from Machida whatsoever, then Machida just straight blitzed him.

Yes I remember that. Exaggerated movements and Machida didn’t take the bait at all.

I don’t know about before the fight, but after the fight he was.

It's crazy to capture that clear a picture of the shad face when he was going down.
