Was Pre-Usada Weidman the best MW of all time?

Pre-Usada Weidman was undefeated, and heck was never really even threatened whatsoever in any of his fights, almost a Khabib level dominance, but against consistently higher level competition than Khabib.

Before USADA he had incredible strength, cardio, and even punching power, to go along with his prodigious grappling technique.

He also fought basically every style at the highest level and passed all tests with fight colors. He cut an insane amount of weight last minute and still easily handled prime Maia, including in the grappling exchanges. He humiliated D1 NCAA wrestling champ Mark Munoz in all aspects of MMA. He then absolutely dominated all time GOAT Anderson Silva twice. He followed that up by taking on an elite striker with top notch TDD in Machida, winning easily and even landing the more damaging blows on the feet. Finally he streamrolled the infamous TRT Belfort, once it hit the ground it was like man vs boy.

USADA came in after that fight, and the rest is history. He lost his title to Rockhold in his first USADA era fight, although he still looked good as he was still probably getting residual PED benefits, then declined more and more as time went on.

I don't see DDP having anything for him, as his TDD isn't the best, and once Weidman of that era had top control, you were in major trouble.

Khamzat might be the most interesting challenge as he could at least keep it standing, but Weidman probably just beats him there, especially as the fight goes on, a la Usman (but a prime huge 185 Weidman is a whole different world than an older injury riddled natural WW Usman).

Pereira gets put on his back and mauled. Prime Izzy seemed to have incredible TDD but he never faced a wrestler like Pre-USADA Weidman.....yes he faced older Yoel, but Yoel never implement his wrestling like Weidman did.

Weidman and Hendricks have to be the fighters with the most blatant and extreme declines that like up perfectly with the USADA era (and TRTitor).

certainly up there. was a really complete fighter and great athlete

not so thinly veiled shitting on khabib thread.

wasnt vitor off trt for that fight?

im pretty sure if vitor had a tue exemption he would have destroyed chris.

Belfort's levels were actually through the roof for that fight. He probably would've beaten Chris standing as TRTfort was a nightmare on the feet, but there was still such a massive discrepancy on the ground between those two.

Yeah. Think his t-level was like 151… truly embarrassing, he should have been fighting wmma with such piss poor levels

Great fighter of course.
His kicking game was solid, not great.
His boxing technique as with all Serra fighters, especially the bigger ones, very average.
But he made up for it with the takedown threat and a great chin early on.

He was great until he lost. Then he started losing more. So, in his prime he was a real problem to anyone and everyone. Was it USADA that ruined him? I doubt it. Maybe.

He fought and beat a lot of legends (Silva, Belfort, Machids). It’s also true that those guys were more or less on their way out as they were a few years older with a lot of miles on them.

The Chris’ prime was short-ish, but he did achieve a lot. His grappling was very good and he had all the mean to make it a grappling fight (high level wrestling). His striking wasn’t bad by any means, but not great either.

got actual results or readings of his test measurements for that fight??

he looked nothing like he did vs henderson, rockhold and bisping.

I think that’s what I read from an article at the time. You’re right, he looked terrible in comparison and I’m sure felt even worse

I've never gotten the idea that Weidman was on the juice. I have a couple buddies that trained with him and they basically just always said he was very skilled.

Pre usada he wore a 2xl shirt. After usada he wore a L shirt.

He noticably shrunk.

That's not mutually exclusive lol. The juice helps you train longer/harder and gain more skills quickly.

His post USADA fall off was so dramatic though. Definitely lost something.

I think Rockhold at his peak is the best MW ever. could also be dricus tbh. I can picture dricus beating weidman and rockhold

Naah

Teh Chris has more and better scalps than Khabib... And TS has only thinly veiled that both are all time greats.

Khabib elected to exit competition when there were many more scalps for him to take. Not shade, just a choice he made that needs to be accepted.

You think Vitor Belfort was off the juice before he was forced by USADA but Weidman was not???
