Was Michael Jackson really that famous?

You haven't looked very hard. Type into Google and you'll see.

Non Christian scholars wrote about him too.
It's pretty universal that Jesus existed, now what you might be arguing is about whether or not he did the feats that they claim
Depends who you believe. I don't think many of the figures of old and new testament have much of a trail. There is no mention of jews being slaves in Egypt in their own history.

Also, most of the Jesus story comes from older sources so if there was an actual person who was named Jesus, his life probably wasn't like the bible says. I'm sure you've heard all of that about the myths coming from older sources. I think the Jews who do believe Jesus of Nazareth existed think he was a trickster or a magician which is why they don't accept him. I think it's possible a guy existed like that and like so many myths they just get retold until they're more myth than true. Even in our own time, sometimes people cling to myths when the subject will point blank tell you it wasn't true (Ali's lost gold medal which he claimed he threw in the river).

Hell, even elvis told his "Memphis Mafia" how the sky was purple or some shit when he was born. That's just mythmaking, our job is to be able to seperate myth from fact.

i was in peru when michael jackson died. on the day he died, i was in the rainforest trekking through a very isolated area. out of the blue, a local indian saw us and asked if we had heard that michael jackson died. since we didn't have internet or any way of knowing, we asked, "what?". and then he started trying to do the moonwalk, and said that he had died.

if a native indian in the middle of the rainforest knows michael jackson, you know he was very famous.

You wouldn't believe how many children he touched over the years.

Yes, MJ is THAT dude. From childhood, through his teen years, to when he teamed up with Quincy Jones and did Off the Wall, Thriller and Bad, back to back to back. Then in the early 90s, despite the scandals, his albums still did exceptionally well.

At his peak he was as big as any superstar we've ever seen. His fame slowly started to fizzle out in the 2000s as he seemed to get weirder and weirder, but again, at the peak of his fame he was incredible.

There's no way for a second I believe he was going to be able to get through the "This is It" tour though.

Oddly enough, I predicted he was going to die the day he died. We joke around that celebs die in 3 and Farrah Fawcett and I think Ed McMahon had died and someone asked me who I thought was next. I said MJ.

I believe it, the night prince died, I just knew something was off. Didn't know what it was but I felt more anxious and odder than I've ever felt.

With MJ, I watched the news before he was announced dead but I just had a bad feeling. He was already dead for hours at that point but they didn't announce it until several hours after he was already dead.

yes, I've seen those vids where they go to bumfuck out in a rainforest and they say they know him. Worldwide, I believe he's more popular than anyone. Ali was his closest rival but Ali's peak of fame was way back in the 70's. From what I've read, it's mainly America where the negativity really took root, in Europe they didn't seem to care, that's what I've read, maybe some of our eastern Europeans can fill us in.

I mean was he like Top 5 most famous people who ever lived famous?

I remember after he died his funeral being broadcasted on my country's state TV channel, almost like he was some sort of famous foreign leader or something like that.

Talking to his obsessive fans you get the impression he was more famous then The Beatles, Hitler or Einstein, and on par with Jesus Christ.

Like watching this concert of his and people started screaming for over 2 minutes while he just stood still doing nothing.

You serious?

I dont even think there is anyone remotely equivalent to how big MJ was, at the moment, when it comes to global super stardom. To where grown ass men & women were legit fainting at his presence.

Yeah, he's up there at top tier fame levels. Ali, Einstein, Da Vinci, Beatles, Elvis, and so on

When the video for Black or White debuted he wanted it shown at a certain time. That clashed with the BBC evening news so he just got them to delay the news. I can't imagine any musician having the power to do that now.

MJ is the biggest musician of all time. Not even Beatles or Elvis could compare.

Michael jackson was absolutely massive. Im only 40, but i dont remember another person as big as him. If i had to guess the next most famous person would be elvis.

Michael Jackson is a music legend despite his personal life.
In his prime, the man was probably the most popular and famous artist in human history.

to be honest, i think europe really did like him. i remember seeing videos of when he died in places like france, germany, italy where people were literally crying. but yeah, micheal jackson may be the most popular person ever, aside from like jesus christ or something lol.

He is definitely one of the 5 most famous celebrities/entertainers of all time rather than people in general.

Although I'v found that generally South American tastes in US/UK music tend towards stuff from the 70's and 80's so its not that supprising, last time I was in Argentina the Stones doing a show there was the #1 news story on TV.
