Was it prime Nate the destroyed McGregor?

His best performance ever was against MJ, so yea you could argue he was very slightly past his peak, and he never reached that form again due to not taking his conditioning ever as seriously again.

But he was certainly still in his prime and a handful for most when he fought Conor in both fights.

Nate was for sure in his prime when he beat Conor.

What Sherbroni did this?

id say he was in his prime for sure, if you think about it he had beaten a very good MJ, and went on to beat a future LW champion in McGregor at WW on two weeks notice. Imagine had the fight been at LW for the strap with a full camp for Nate. Conor probably would've been KO'd.

It was Conor realizing for the first time how sh*t his cardio is and panicking the moment he gassed

Nah man Nate was post his prime by quite a bit. Seems to me Nate just hit harder earlier in his career. Conor got gassed and wobbled by a well off prime Nate in my opinion and I love McGregor.

Or was his prime slightly earlier than the McGregor fight or after?

I personally believe it was close to his peak but maybe already slightly on the decline. The implications huh?
Josh Thomson shows exactly when Nate passed his prime.
Here are a few different angles

Benson also helped end Nate's "Prime"

I think it was also the size difference that got to him. He hadn't fought anyone Nate's size before that. He was getting hit from long range where he's not used to getting hit since he usually has the reach advantage in his fights. He underestimated Nate's toughness/chin and when he realized he couldn't put him away, he panicked.

Nate was at his peak December 19 2015 against MJ but past it 3 months later on March 5 2016 against Conor?

I think he was at his peak earlier, when he was beating Gomi, Cerrone, and Miller. Nate looked fantastic at that time. He looked very good against Johnson too, but Nate had list 3 of his previous 4 fights prior to that. His peak was passed by 2015 I think, but he was still very good and could be real problem for certain styles of fighter.
