Was Chris Pratt's leading man success a big surprise for you?

It definitely was for me.

I only knew him as "the goofy fat guy from Parks and Rec," so when I found out that he had been cast in Guardians of the Galaxy, I was pretty much busting one of these:

{<huh}

But then I saw him looking like all this. . .

And I was like damn, no shit. And then of course I actually saw Guardians and understood why he was cast.

Now he's one of the hottest actors in Hollywood, even being highly praised by the likes of Denzel Washington and reportedly being considered to take over Indiana Jones after the next film.

By now I'm definitely a fan of the guy but his success really is a pleasant surprise. Back when he was still on Parks and Rec, if you had told me that one day he'd be a huge success as an action star I'd have thought you were trolling.

Got to agree with you, he was lovable on Parks and Rec but I didnt see his crazy success coming. Glad it has though since he seems like a genuinely great guy.

Helluva transformation

Fair play to him, I had no clue who he was until GOTG
Was his sitcom a big deal in the states ?

Honestly, I was like that’s cool Patrick Wilson is finally getting big parts. Then I realized it wasn’t him.

I like em both so it worked out in the end.

I was surprised to see him in Zero Dark Thirty way back when, during the height of parks and recreation's popularity. When he pulled that roll off, it was pretty clear to me that he could work as an action star.

I always forget he was in that. I didn't even recognize him when I watched the movie.

I never payed him any attention until Guardians. I knew he was around before that but I never really thought anything about him but he is a good looking(no homo) funny guy and has lots of charisma.

I go see movies like Passengers cause he is in it

It certainly had a lot of fans. It was essentially a rip-off of The Office, but it was a well-made rip-off and was pretty popular.

We normally get the cast offs in Britain if they do well, how I met your mother, bigbang, 2 broke girls etc
Never got this one so I didn't know if it bombed or not

Watch a few minutes of this and you'll get the idea. . .

Even though he had a very small part there, you could tell he had a lot of charisma and screen presence right from the start.

Parks and Rec is awesome, one of my top 3 comedy shows along with 30 rock and Its Always Sunny

Yeah, it was weird seeing him play against type for like a minute, before it became clear he had another character he could inhabit with the same sort of casual comfort he showed in comedy.

yes, but only b/c he was chubby before

he always had good comedic talent, timing, charm, etc...

He has a shit load of screen presence and charisma but just took him a bit to find his groove.
