Man, that fight ended WAY faster than I expected.

Taira knocking out Moreno in the first was wild, but I keep going back and forth on the stoppage. Moreno was definitely hurt, no question, but I don’t know if he was completely done when the ref jumped in. Felt like one of those moments where another second or two would’ve answered everything.

At the same time though, Taira was landing clean and Moreno wasn’t firing back much. I get why the ref stepped in — could’ve turned ugly quick.

What did you guys think?
Early stoppage or fair call?
And does this change how you see Taira going forward, or do you need to see more?

Curious how others saw it, especially on a rewatch.

Yes and no, it was only going to get worst from there, even if Moreno was still alive, ref saved him from getting some CTE. He was locked in a horrible spot.

This.

Was a tad early but he was stuck and that wasnt changing. He was getting hammered, if you want to see 5 more seconds of hard gnp to make it look better fine but is it really needed?

A bit yeah. But I really don't think it changed anything. Moreno had just lost his base again that he worked to get back from the hooks, and was laying face first on the mat without his knees touching the mat. If he even could get his base back again through the onslaught, he would have eaten an easy additional 3-4 punches. 3-4 more heavy shots absolutely was going to get the stoppage from the ref.

It could've went on. He wasn't hurt before the ground strikes if I remember right so it's not as if Moreno had been rocked and knocked down immediately before that. You have to give more leeway if the guy on bottom isn't laying still.
