Most people seem so think that BJ was a gatekeeper throughout his carreer due to his poor record.

Prime BJ (with that strength and conditioning trainer) would have a chance to be champion today. He was that good

Who exactly? Many people recognize how good BJ was in his "prime" he won the LW and WW belts. it wasn't until he got lazy, sometime around 2010 that he starting falling into the abyss he is in now, and probably won't come out of.

Nobody's saying that. If so, they should go back and watch some fights. Penn has damaged his legacy continuing fighting for so long, unfortunately, but he was a beast back in the day. He was without a doubt the best lightweight on the planet a decade ago.

People who started watching MMA within the past year or two, looked up BJ's record, and said, "Hey! Why do people think this guy was so great? Me so smart!"

I don't even like BJ all that much but Jesus newer fans know nothing about history.
