Elections Warren makes bold claim to begin canceling student loan debt on day 1

Which part? Scum is my opinion, but she laughs in their face in the video. That's why the man makes the comment.

I just watched the video. She indeed seems to be laughing.

And maybe nerves, but his beef is legit and she comes off as elitist---as if he is a rube who doesn't understand or whatever.

He understands perfectly. That he is a chump for sacrificing and saving and paying for his daughter's college when he could have just had her take out loans to finance her education and kept his $100,000+ for himself. It's a very bad idea overall.

Student loan debt cancellation would be financially devastating for middle to upper middle class who paid their loans off independently. Not only are people less than one generation from them being handed 50,000+, this cancellation of debt will allow these people to take on mortgages and inflate the price of housing. This is essentially fucking someone over two times, maybe more. The fact is, when some people are handed something for nothing, the people who are handed nothing are screwed.

While I don't think Warren and people who support canceling student debt are "laughing" at people who paid for their (or their kids') education, his sentiment is correct.
His sentiment is NOT correct. You dont continue a shitty program because its been shitty to you in particular. That's like saying nobody should get a Polio vaccine because i didnt get to have one growing up. Its the most selfish and retarded argument a person can make about pretty much anything.

no, the real question is, Why did his daughter take out loans if he had been already saving money for college? Because college finance is broken and needs to be fixed for future generations. not just you you selfish prick.

Lol imagine if Lincoln had been like "we cannot free the slaves because it will not be fair to all the people who weren't freed before"

Elizabeth Warren Sees her campaign, chance of winning, slipping away.
She has to start swinging for the fences or she will be watching the election from her teepee.

weird, she has been taking about this for years but those pesky facts never seem to matter do they?

His daughter didn't take out any loans. They cash flowed all of it after sacrificing for her whole life to set aside that money. Did you even watch the video? They drove old cars and didn't vacation and watched a neighbor spend money like crazy who even made more than he did but then had their (the neighbor's) kid take out loans, which will now be forgiven in Warren's crazy plan. It's a completely asinine plan and the only ones for it would be asinine people who took out loans for stupid fucking degrees that don't give you the proper ROI to pay them back. Those are your selfish and retarded people---who should be paying for their own mistakes, not looking to responsible, hard-working folks to steal from. Again.

And none of it addresses the real problem, which is the tuition itself and losers like Warren stealing millions of dollars to "teach" and getting a pension that is grotesquely massive to boot. That is the part of the system that needs reformed, and the reason people are forced to take loans to begin with. The outrageously overpaid faculty/staff of the universities.

Idiotic quote, slavery was done via force. Nobody is forcing a majority of retarded high school kids to pursue a useless Liberal Arts degree where they go on 3 day benders every week accumulating debt they would have no means to repay had they treated high school as anything but advanced adolescent daycare.

Students and their parents made choices. Some parents decided that regularly going on expensive vacations, buying more expensive homes and cars, etc was more valuable to them than paying for their kids' education. Other parents decided that their kids not being saddled with debt after university was more important. No one forced the former parents to enjoy the pleasures they paid for with money that could have gone to their kids' education. It's a decision they made entirely on their own. Not canceling the debts people took on to get ahead of their peers is not a shitty program. It's basic fairness.

Your polio vaccine analogy is just as assinine as the cancer analogy other people made in this thread. People didn't take out loans to get polio as an investment so that they could have a better chance of getting the jobs they wanted.

Changing the way future students pay for university is one thing. Canceling the debts of those who already attended is another. If there are any selfish pricks here, it's the people who got degrees from expensive universities (assets) so that their resumes would stand out to employers, who now want the government to make sure they're on an even (or at least more even) playing field when it comes to liabilities with the people who went to the FIUs and SUNY Stony Brooks. And the people who spent their time in university playing beer pong wanting the same clean slate after graduation as their classmates who worked menial jobs while they were students to pay for their education. And the people who chose to go to university knowing that their parents hadn't saved for it wanting the same clean slate after they graduate as students whose parents worked hard and made sacrifices so that their kids wouldn't graduate thousands of dollars in debt.

Your an idiot dude. These kids are forced because the alternative is working at McDonald's for the rest of their lives. Noone should support a zhitty system where your options are McDonald's or debt slavery but Murkans sure love to!!

Wow you doubled down on stupid

I have a MS in Comp Sci, do quite well for myself but have a buddy who is in a better position financially doing HVAC, no college degree.

You aren't owed shit, particularly a good salary if you pursue a "skill" noone sees any value for.

Yeah yeah yeah. Promises, promises, promises.

Whatever gets votes and whatever gets the foot in the door.

Then once you get in, blame everyone else for roadblocking your plan that you knew was never going to work to begin with.

Yeah, because you can't take a welding, HVAC, plumbing, electrical or other apprenticeship and make $100,000+ in 5 years time. They're begging for kids walking out of HS to do it. Can't find them. Nobody can pass a drug test, and nobody shows up every day. The ones that can and do, can and do. A friend's son who is 25 took a welding course at a local trade school when he was 20. I think it was one year and I don't think it cost much at all. Went after he got off each night from his shit job at the time. Caught on with an outfit and is a heavy equipment welder, now. Has a truck with a welder on it, goes job site to job site, loves it. This time last year she was helping him with his taxes and told me she about fell over because he made $118,000 in 2018. That is a lot of money in this area. Bought a house, got married, etc.
All you have to do is work for it. Oh, and all his buddies who went to college and have in loans outstanding what he makes in a year are pulling down $55,000 in their starting positions. If they have a business degree. The others don't make crap with their liberal arts, social work or sign language degrees. It's all about choices. Choose wisely, but don't blame others, the system, or whatever else for your own failings and shortcomings. Or your poor decisions. It is what it is. And pay your damn debt. You took it on, you pay it off.

Bs. Not on day >1<
From july 2019
Ezra Klein
It is Day 1 of the Elizabeth Warren administration. What comes first?

Elizabeth Warren
I’ll do the things that I can do as president on my own. So Day 1, I will sign a moratorium. No more drilling, no more mining on federal lands or national parks. No offshore drilling. A secretary of education who’s been a public school teacher, somebody who believes in public education. A head of the EPA who is not a coal lobbyist. This is how I think of this. Look at the tools in the toolbox. Right? What are all the tools? What are the ones that a president can do — I love this word — by herself? And what are the ones you got to get Congress for? And then what’s the plan to get Congress on board for that?
Day 1: Warren says she would kick off her presidency by utilizing her executive powers to sign a moratorium on:

  • New drilling
  • Offshore drilling
  • New mining on federal lands or in national parks

She's not campaigning on educational finance reform, she is campaigning on free money. Why would a college drop its prices if they're going to be handed free money? Nothing is free. Why is no one talking about the banks that lend money out to anyone and repeatedly get bailed out by the government and Fed reserve?

Good for your friend. Not everyone can be or wants to be a welder.

Guys who clean Port-a-pottys also can make good money. Not everyone wants to clean zhit all day long too.

Regardless, just because some people can become welders doesnt excuse punishing people who want to go to college.

No its a zhit system. Thats why no other developed country punishes people with debt for going to school. Fix the zhit system so noone goes in debt for educating themselves. People dont just go in debt for only sign language degrees, they do for all. And lol at you defending someone taking on 100k debt for getting a degree. Youre a useful idiot for the mountebank loan companies who prey on kids who want to go to school.

Lol what?

The UK has a higher debt average than the US. Which makes sense because the US and UK both offer renound and robust options for universities and colleges. If the US was simply just state schools the debt ratio would look alot more like Canada and Australia especially when factoring in cost of living

If you just give people $50K with no strings attached to pay for college, colleges will just raise their tuition by $50K..
