Warhammer 40k

I want to start getting into warhammer40k as I have always loved that type of lore and fantasy, I played EQ religiously as a kid and love TES series so I figure this is a great next series to get into.

I bought vermintide 2 and total war 2 recently, I love vermintide and I would really like to get into total war 2 but it is so damn hard and complicated, I'm really struggling to get better at this RTS type of game.
You might be mixing up Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k?

The Emperor already appears to those looking upon him as whatever form he wishes. He doesn't need to use an avatar.

It's like when the Mechanicum look at him they see their machine God.
Yep everyone sees and hears what they wanna see.........except the sisters of silence who thanks to their anti psyker powers currently just see a man on a chair ! Grimacing in pain and sometimes snarling or foot/fist moving !

I just finished up a Skaven campaign in WTW2 and they were a nightmare to play, and I've been playing Total War games since the beginning. Pretty much the key is just getting the right troops into the right situations so once you get a handle on your capabilities (And a handle on your enemies), either through guides or just experience, a lot of it starts becoming second nature. Truth is for someone new to the series a bit of research will go a long way.

I haven't played them, but I heard Tomb Kings were easy mode in WTW2 so maybe try them (If you bought the DLC anyway)

I thought a Primarch vs a Chaos powered space marine was a comparable or possibly even more fair match up than The Emperor vs a Chaos powered Primarch.
Nope every instance of primarch vs marine has been a rape stomp
The only exceptions have been lion vs luther (and that may be sorcery that stopped the lion) and kor pheron (could be wrong) magicaly sucker punched guilliman and had him frozen but still lost
Few physical encounters go well
Although One of the elite spacewolves is asked to try something with the lion in guillumans presence....swings at him but lion catches blade with ease, guilliman doesnt know if hed be able to do the same
Angron sits and talks with a dying loyalist world eater he kills , comments the man managed to scratch his neck and respects him for it

But overall any marine vs primarch has been easy stomp...shit they kill them em masse!

Russ sent elite packs of space wolves to watch over other primarchs and in general they were slaughtered vs disloyal primarchs with minimal fuss
Gulliman himself is ambushed in the nip by a group of fully armed elite alpha marines in close quarters and still kills em all
Corax rips through the demon enhanced world bearers so quick that logar proceed to get his ass whupped to stop the slaughter

Overall the human food chain goes
Big e >primarchs>custodes> marines
Even chaos enhanement wouldnt alter that much. Abandons only hope is suprise and the power of the 2 uber weapons he wields

apparently his sword is capable of killing demons for good as well. So it makes you wonder, i doubt Failbadon would ever wanna come near that thing
Yep and hes slowly but surely accepting the non physical side of his primarch powers ie hes also a potentialy phenomn psyker etc

Fabius bile books are amazing
Seems trazyzen the necron troll/pokemon collector now has a still learning fulgrim clone!!! Given away by bile

Thank you for the advice! I'm doing a night elf campaign because they are one of the main reasons I bought the game, I'm a big fan of night elves and dwarves in fantasy games like this but night elves are a lot less common so I went with them.

I'm doing okay in the campaign but when I try to do a custom battle I get absolutely obliterated, it's not even close lol.

I will definitely do some research and watch some videos because I think I will really enjoy this game once I have a better understanding of it.

Two new pieces of info out today:
1) The big box for the new Adeptus Titanicus game is insanely expensive, coming in at a whopping $290. I was interested in the game, but not at that price. Jesus.
2) Forgeworld is opening a warehouse in the US. This is probably one of the reasons so much stuff has been going "last chance to buy" recently; they've been removing poor sellers that they don't want to have to stock at a second location. This also means they'll be setting up the webstore for USD. So now, instead of getting screwed by FW's shipping costs we're going to get screwed by GW's funky conversion rates.

Slaves of darkness out and its added some interesting twists to the horus heresy lore

two questions;

1. What's the best place to start if i wanna learn about the wh40k lore?
2. What is the general consensus here regarding the popular theory of Event Horzion being a kinda sorta prequel to 40k? I'm guessing it's already been discussed here.

can we get a Battle of Terra book already, i want the details on what happened

It comming friend slave to darkness kinda mixes up the old lore for the upcomming siege but we are creeping towards the end
Next hh novel will cover the largest titan enagement in 40k history..basicaly dorn throwing a large % of remaining non astartes forces to slow warmaster and allies down
But yeah iwanna see the final showdown and sigsismund wreck fools

So far basicaly we know in the revised lore uber bro vulkan will be there now at terra , motarion and khan rematch (judges scorecard draw last time ), khan vs demon fulgrim ( wel see if khan van back up his epic smacktalk to old fulgrim on ullanor) , russ is recovering from wounds of wolfsbane novel (legion badly mauled too) and the new lore has suprising twist on horus

Then wel have the scouring ! On the reddut site i read a good tidbit from there where they have the 13th engage the night lords and utterly wreck them...for once codex shown as advantage allowing efficent chapter coordination , a diciplined military force brushing aside uncordinated night lords with ease

Abaddon has a pretty rad sword himself, and Abaddon is not a daemon prince, so I don't get the point why he would fear daemon-killing sword more than a regular one.

First of all I can't tell you how nice it is, after all these years to finally talk to you rather than argue over shia/sunni hegemony. Hope you are well.

Second of all I think you are forgetting about the Primaris Space Marines. They have three extra gene seed organs and are bigger stronger faster. (Primaris =Jordan whereas Astarte=Kobe)

And weren't the Empeoror's early warriors, despite having shorter life spans than the Astatres, A- level athletes in their own right?

The Emprah>Horus>Primarchs>Thunder Warriors>Primaris>Custodes>Astartes

Yeah forgot about primaris ,thunder warriors i left out as they are supposedly all gone but yeah they are also vastly superior to astartes but prone to mental unstablity and harder to mass produce

But u got order wrong custodes are above primaris and thunder warriors ...they are the custom made natural predators of astartes and thunder warriors

Yeah he's got the most powerful demon sword in existence I believe if not one of the, but you do have a point because didn't sick as men challenge him,and his fate is pretty much unknown. I'm pretty sure he's dead, but I'm not entirely sure, because that dude should have bested him in one-on-one combat

Yep he faced an old sigismund
Pretty much the chaos boost and not aging himself is all that saves him , prime sigismund woulda raped him
Angry old man sigismund still manages to bury his sword up to the hilt in ole abby and gets off one of the nicest burns in 40k history before the talon of horus kills him!
