Opinion War Room -- Procrastination, Masturbation

I get on Sherdog and think about it in the same way that I breathe - I just reflexively open up a tab on my phone to see what is going on, if I’m bored, whatever.

As far as replaying arguments, no, but I’d be lying if I said I’ve never thought of posts when I’m not on Sherdog, but that is exceedingly rare, and pretty much only when a post was so outrageous it came up in my head when thinking about other political things.

I like reading the War Room at work, although recently (post Uvalde) I took a couple years off and I think it was better that way. Not sure why I came back, but it doesn't take up much of my time and I don't think about it when I'm not killing time.

Ah. Just a Fedor shrug gif. Nothing mind blowing

for clarity, the projection i was implying was in the OP and not you. basically i read that bit in the OP as, 'I often conduct forum arguments in my head even when I'm not posting, please tell me i'm not the only one who does this'.

Oh, that makes sense. I can see people doing that and thinking everyone else does too. Especially if you are in this sub-forum daily. It’s all adversarial, so it makes sense that they would. We all remember that time we yelled at ourselves. Beating yourself up because you should have said this when they said that. Best to leave it behind when you log off.

I was posting for a little while after never being in the war room for my whole time here until around this past election or whenever it was. Now I rarely feel like posting because there's not a lot of benefit. Nobody ever changes their mind, it's rarely civil, and the idea of politics is so extremely tribal. It brings out the hate in everyone.

I'm even extending this into the UFC forums where I used to only visit. I don't think anyone cares what I have to say. I don't believe I really give any novel insight into any topic so why bother saying anything? That's kind of where I'm at currently.

I might pop on here now and read people's reactions to the latest news event that's happening but after seeing how this subforum is I've decided it's best not to really hang around here recreationally. Honestly, I go back and forth on requesting an account deletion these days.

The WR is a sea of troll piss. Mostly posts geared toward getting an emotional reaction, a few structured and thoughtful arguments, and a handful of essays from some seriously autistic posters that actually think this is reality.

I just come here so I have a vague idea of what's going on in the world and can make small talk with my dad. I mostly just like posts that provide insight, made me laugh, or are the work of a master troll.

I don't like to talk about politics with people IRL so I do it on here because if I get bored of talking about it I can simply close teh dawg.
Same here except there are some people I'll talk politics with, not related to whether we agree or not, just if they can do it in a mature manner without getting worked up. I have a few MAGA type friends, maybe not Trump fans but that will only vote Republican, that I mostly just avoid the topic entirely if I can help it.

What exactly do you mean by “can”?

No you.

@Islam Imamate

Yes
Believe it or not that used much more the norm around here. That's what attracted me to the War Room really, long form political discussions that take advantage of the forum format.

Over time as the shitposters crowded out the quality ones its morphed into an anonymous social media site where bot level posters circle jerk over the latest rage-bait they see on Twitter which seems to be more to your liking.
