Starship Troopers is about to come on in 15 minutes (on STARZ). I'm gonna eat a hummus wrap and watch it. Today's a good day, cheers all.
 
Arrival was the best film I've seen all year.

If you like intelligent scifi this films for you.
 
Despite being a dick on this forum...especially this subforum, I'm really cool in real life.

I still have a lot of liberal friends and those who were generally distraught by this election. despite disagreeing with a lot of what they have to say, I do listen to them vent.

Right now, I'm just gonna be positive...and hope this feeling spreads to others...right now there is just so much negativity...

I'm still torn on this film. I will have to watch it again. I'm not sure if I really liked it, or was underwhelmed.

and dont' get me wrong, I love "thinking" types of sci fi films.
 
when i was shopping with my mom they were just working behind the cigarette cage and wouldnt give her carton. I just walked in and grabbed them and told the cashier to ring them up. Normally i would be polite and shit but its my mom.

In other news, I recently started training to become a pilot (going for my PPL, no intention to make it a career). Thanks to Trump's deregulation promises, there could be a short term drop in avgas prices, so that's pretty cool. Shit's not cheap, but damn flying is a LOT of fun.

Anyone here have any experience with general aviation?

Awesome. I wanted to do that when I was younger. I've got a few sessions in the air, never had the right combination of time and money though.

Thanks man, I'm stoked. Yeah, money is definitely the issue for me, as I'm pretty poor. It will definitely take some budgeting, but I have no problem making some sacrifices for a while to get things done. Like a lot of people, I've always wanted to be able to fly, and now's my chance, so fuck it.

It's never too late to get back into it, btw. It's not cheap, but also not quite as expensive as I thought it would be. ~$9k for the training and ~$15k for an old Cessna 150/152 isn't too bad.

Yeah. I've thought off and on about going back to it. There's also going the cheapskate route and going for an ultralight.

Word. Training for a sport pilot license is only like $5k, and you can find some pretty cheap LSA's out there. Toss some floats on one and you can have fun in the air AND on the water. That seems like a pretty damn good time to me.

Pan of the top of my head. I don't really know lately what does make him right wing though.

I think the forum is divided two ways. Ideology and posting style. There are posters here who probably align closer on the spectrum but completely dislike each other because of the way they conduct themselves in the forum.

early on I had a hunch pan was leaned right, then I read his posts and figured he leaned left. But yeah, he's a solid poster.

I feel like Blackened and In the Name Of are reasonable if you catch them the right way.

As for others, I don't know. I don't visit the overtly shit threads that populate this place, so I don't see much from a lot of people.

I like those two also but they are more about cultural or social issues and I usually don't care as much about that stuff so usually don't get into discussions.
