Cerrone is a notorious slow starter. Just baffling but he needs to get hit hard but survive the opening 3 minutes before he finds a groove. He got surprised by getting his nose blasted and he never managed to clear those early fight cobwebs he always has.

Cerrone is aware of it, after losing to RDA he sounded so frustrated with himself for again being stopped in the first round and how he can't shake that tendency of his to get caught early on his heels

Definitely wasn't a dive, but he's definitely the type that shows up more to get paid and have fun than win

Conclusion doesn't follow. Lots of people are slow starters (Max for instance, and even Jones most of the time), and that obviously doesn't mean they're more there for the paycheck/fun.

guys !! Uncle Ruckus cleaned himself up! this is what goes down at Klan rallies. creeps me out TBH

Who knew that what they talk about at Klan rallies was so similar to what some of our esteemed WR posters like to talk about here?

everyone knew? Oh yeah, that’s right, we did...

the Constitution may protect them, but it protects those they hate too. they're a disgrace to our nation.

I don’t think he’s shown that he needs to get hit to get going, I just think Cerrone benefits greatly from being able to set the pace. True for any fighter, but probably more important to Cerrone than most high profile mma fighters. I think his slow start problem is a myth and used to excuse getting wrecked early. It’s not like he’s undefeated in fights that go beyond r1. And I’m not taking anything away from him, he’s an amazing fighter, but just like guys with weak chins and livers, or guys who keep their left hand low when throwing right lead uppercuts, he has a flaw in his game that fighters tend to expose early rather than later in fights.

@Limbo Pete speaking of Moon and Antarctica I got too busy to tism out about it.

Right now I'm eating some crawfish at my favorite bar and Lives came on the Pandora, and I wanted to point out that LCW was an album made on uppers and MaA was made on hallucinagens.

I will say Good News is a perfect album that gets way too much hate.
I think Good News is pretty unquestionably the most fun album they ever made. And man was it great live. One benefit of being in the PNW is that i've seen them like 4 or 5 times. The Good News tour was the best imo.

It wasn't his slow starting that was leading to him being there for paycheck. His attitude does seem to lead to that (not that he's not game and showing up to fight to the best of his abilities regardless). Just that the combination of a slow starter having one of his slow starts plus the reputation and him making comments about "I get paid to fight, why wouldn't I want to fight as often as a I can?" when he had that crazy 7 fight year.

He likes a slow kickboxing match at range and guys who deny him that tend to find some success. His main tools to keep guys off him are to duck under for a takedown, which he has decent timing for but he isn't the most refined wrestler, and the intercepting knee, which is great but can also be countered by a well timed straight. He tried to duck under Conor but that didn't work and I think if he had tried the knee Conor would've countered him. He's just tailor made to get wrecked by Conor unfortunately. Maybe patient Gaethje can knock Conor into Bolivion.

I don’t think he had enough space to drive on that td attempt.
Conor came in hard on that swing but somehow didn’t over commit or lose balance.
Cerrone’ s duck was great, but it was all vertical, and not enough time/ space to drive horizontally into Conor to get the double. That, plus Conor is strong and has good tdd against all but high end wrestlers.

Also let's remember that when he ducked for the takedown he basically ran into Conor's knee which still had some forward momentum, I think that was more significant that the shoulder strikes. The shoulder strikes were good at keeping Donald from settling in the clinch so that he can slow things down or find a shot off the break.

And yeah while he has good timing for his shots they are not really great shots in and of themselves in terms of form and drive. He doesn't really level change like a wrestler, he just straight up ducks under to the hips so they only really work if he times them well or can force a trip off them.

Depends on what you mean by fun imo. Float on and Ocean Breathes were radio hits but Bukowski, Satin in a coffin, and the View are absolutely gorgeous.

I think perhaps you're right that Moon and Antarctica is their best album. Lives is gorgeous.

Cerrone is a fucking can.
took a dive for Canner's 'return', made bank.
better never show up again in the McUFC.
