Also, I sometimes feel like people conflate "comedy" and "jokes" with just being mean. There's a difference between good natured humor and bullying. I mean, we've all seen someone picked on in front of a group of people, and how lots of them point and laugh. I thinks the reason is really because laughing at someone getting bullied is way better than being the butt of the "joke". Then again, i'm a deadpan Steven Wright kind of joke lover, so maybe i'm just out of my element.

Oh so he admitted it in a sense. Could be he only settled to avoid court though, sometimes I figure these rich guys see the money as less of a hassle than the time and effort required to prove their innocence. I agree. In school I was kind of a dick, mainly because I realized I could get people to laugh very easily if I did so at the expense of someone else. Much of the time this was roasting between friends but sometimes I think I did cross over into bullying. I remember this girl walked into a class of mine to deliver a message from another teacher. She had really long bangs that seemed to cover her eyes and my friend picked up on that, making fun of her for it by saying things like how can she even see? To which I replied "echo location" and that got some laughs all around. I egged him on a bit like that but I could tell it seemed to really hurt the poor girl and I felt bad afterwards.

Last night, a WashPo reporter tweeted a link to a two-year-old story on the Kobe Bryant rape case. Dick move for sure, and she was rightfully grilled by Twitter folks. But then WashPo suspended her pending an investigation into whether her actions violated their social media policy. Her action as in....retweeting a legitimate article at an insensitive time. No allegations of lying or harassment or professional malpractice.
