War Room Lounge v98: “Yes I’m a gangster and I committed that crime.”

I always find it creepy how quickly media can produce an obituary. I mean of course most of it is identical to existing reflections on someone's career etc., but still

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_premature_obituaries

A premature obituary is an obituary of someone who was still alive at the time of publication. Examples include that of inventor, businessman, and chemist Alfred Nobel, whose premature obituary condemning him as a "merchant of death" may have prompted him to create the Nobel Prize;[1] black nationalist Marcus Garvey, whose actual death may have been precipitated by reading his own obituary;[2] and actor Abe Vigoda, who was the subject of so many premature obituaries that a website was created to state whether he was alive or dead.

Pretty surreal. It’s weird when someone that talented and famous somehow still dies young and it’s not from something self inflicted like drugs/ suicide. Not into the NBA at all so I’m sure this is a bigger blow to fans of the league, Lakers or Kobe.

Not a whole lot more tolerance among Blacks and Muslims in a sociocultural sense, though it's less relevant politically and legislatively (US).

And that is the wedge that is so often used. "Conservative Joe" does not care for the gays or their rights, but he certainly is willing to use gay people when it's convenient to point out how unaccepting of gays the black and Muslim community are. In reality, he should be pointing out how much commonality they have. It's just way more convenient to play the accepting person in that specific scenario, while further demonizing groups he hopes to demonize. It's a tiresome and transparent attempt to take the moral high ground that he does not actually hold. Generally speaking, people should be turning that judgement on themselves instead of others. Glass houses and such.

It would seem like gheys are the only folks without a fundamental problem with anybody else, yet are hated by pretty much everyone else. I'll probably never understand it as long as I live.

There are lots of people without a fundamental problem with anybody else. If you are speaking about groups in their entirety, then no entire group is free of prejudice, and that includes gay people.

It also transcends and cuts through extremely divisive shit like race, ethnicity, nationality and religion. Those are all trigger points for mass death and suffering. In conclusion, heterosexuals are obviously the problem. :p
#BarbaricPhilistines

I always thought it only made sense for people who are part of historically oppressed communities to have a mutual understanding and respect for that fact. It does not always seem to be the case though, which is strange to me.

On the Kobe death, to quote Louis, I have no feelings inside of my body. LIP to his fans. You could have made a lot of money betting against him outliving Rodman.

Hey mods, what would be your preffered way of addressing the N word when simply talking about someone else saying it/accused of saying it?

For example the Kobe MSNBC reporter stumbling and saying said N word. I used "ni--er" in my post, but legitimately wondering what's best for you all and the big deal of search algorithms.

I remember you saying the world filter is just a covering, and sites like Google still see the actual N bomb dropped and that can hurt the site if it's happening too much regardless of context.

I’d stick to just showing n as it’s clear what’s being discussed. Avoiding jokes that involve the word would be wise too.

Except for the children, this Kobe thing completely unfazes me. Sorry for his fans though.

I’m going to hell

Nope, don't like that.

It's kind of a cultural thing. He was an icon to a lot of people growing up. A name synonymous with hard work and the fruits thereof. One of the most iconic names and images in sports history.

I've seen the damage of a helicopter crash up close, worse than you think.

By the way, knowing next to nothing about him other than being still fairly young, RIP Kobe Bryant.

As I do not watch basketball, sadly all I remember him for is the rape stuff
