War Room Lounge v94: I'd need to ice up when I wasn't pounding cakes in that kitchen

Don't like whichever snake of a moderator deleted my posts in the war room after I went to sleep last night.
You’ll thank him in a couple of years when your workplace finds out about your sherdog activity

I haven't watched it in YEARS but I'm impressed at it's longevity
It’s really impressive, some pop references are dated but the essence is still funny.

@Clippy when are we invited to your party garage?

Any time bud

I don't think I can plug any more lights in there or it will blow up tho

But I am still looking for interesting things to place around

@Quipling @luckyshot @Kafir-kun @Anung Un Rama

This makes me sick.

There's a video making it's way around social media of a woman claiming to be Iranian (she's actually Iranian-American, mind you) and saying that people in Iran actually hated Soleimani and are glad he's dead. Saying that they actually love Donald Trump and, basically, welcome liberation.

In actuality, she's Erica Kasraie, a writer for The Federalist and a former congressional aide to Trent Franks. She's a right-wing hack.

And in actuality relating to Soleimani, he's the most popular figure in Iran. Approval ratings between 70 and 82 percent.

If you see anyone posting it, shut that shit down.

In Toronto there were large groups of Iranian expats celebrating his demise as well as well as those protesting it.

Semi-related, it frustrates me to no end how American liberals have become so myopic about Eisenhower's presidency and the longing for liberal Republicans that they gloss over his many foreign policy blunders, perhaps the biggest being the overthrow of Mossadegh. Who knows where Iran would be in terms of secularism and social democracy if not for the coup.
My mom travelled to Iran in the 70's somewhere, she said it was amazing.

Get a police scanner

@Clippy is no less of a man because he listens to Snow Patrol, okay everyone? Let's leave him alone

Well it still is. Persians are famous for being very nice and very comely. It's a reputation that has endured for centuries. And a lot of work had to be done by the US to reverse it.

I'm in no place to judge them, but I think most liberal (anti-govt) Iranians have it right: that those celebrating the illegal assassination are fucking morons and, particularly, are scummy if they don't live there and have skin in the game in the event of a war.

Yes, agreed. Almost every Iranian I've met was incredibly friendly. My mom knows an Iranian strongman who believes in the fire gods or something, most intimidating guy I've ever met though.

Well... there is the MEK. Soleimani had killed a few of them. I think they're widely regarded as traitors by Iranians anyway, after siding with Saddam.
Don't think there's a lot of them outside of Iraq, although they do have links to Giuliani apparently...

US troll farms hard at work.
Reminds me of the picture of an old white couple wearing a Blacks For Trump t shirt

How I imagine every single Marine base, Navy SEAL team briefing room, infantry base acting right now:

Zoroastrianism? I think the most intimidating guy I ever met was a Turk...but that was mostly because Turkish people have a terrible habit of close-talking. Or maybe it was just him. But I hate that shit.

Also, it's worth noting that Soleimani is particularly admired for his service in the Iran-Iraq War.

Iran's demise seemed imminent. They were outmanned and outgunned and Saddam was charging their borders with US weapons. Their response was so desperate, they they famously recruited boys as young as 13 to serve, oftentimes without guns, let alone training. Soleimani was a war hero in holding the line against the Iraqi invasion and turning it back.

If they didn't live through that (it was two years after the revolution and lasted until 1988), it's just different.
