Telling the wife I'm going golfing with some friends and coming home buzzed goes over way better than being gone all Saturday afternoon at the local dive bar

Trust me on this one.

Don't blame me for your Everybody Loves Raymond-style marriage dynamic.

Apparently we should have had you in the conservative division for fantasy football :D

For real, next year let's make a WR thread to recruit a couple conservative posters so Lo Mein can come home and we can have a 12-man league.

Large lawns are needless burdens on the ecosystem, razing countless acres of potential habitat for, usually, nothing but a status symbol. If you have a large and untrimmed property in the country or a property that remains in its natural state, that's an entirely different thing. For instance, if you've ever seen an unmaintained yard in even an urban area, where the owner lets the grass get really high, they almost immediately turn into a wildlife oasis and you'll see species like fireflies (which are dwindling) flourishing.

While down in NC I started looking up real estate and saw one house listed with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and around 1,900 square feet for $500K

Was surprised at the price tag until I saw it included 42 acres of land.

That's way too much lawn maintenance for me

It’s also taxed, so maybe the issue is how we levy and use those taxes, and how we regulate the use of resources, and not so much how citizens choose to legally spend their money. Shake your fist at the capital building instead.

Point taken, though. I’d support a land value tax to finance green policy and wildlife preservation. LVT on its own would discourage urban sprawl.

Um, you can hire people to do your yard work......

Well just don’t maintain it. The fireflies will thank you.

Yeah but you gotta live in North Carolina

Please. I golf quite a bit and it's mainly the most socially acceptable way to be multiple drinks in at 2pm on a Sunday other than watching football.
How often do you talk about your stock portfolio tho

For people who allegedly reject stereotyping, golf naysayers are quick to apply stereotypes to golfers.

The seasons between golf and hockey line up perfectly. There's a fairly strong correlation of hockey player/golf hobbyists

Facebook vid won't link right. It's an NHL player hitting a step in one timer at a Top Golf place and launching it with a beautiful draw

Yeah, he can just pay them with the money growing on his trees
Money is made from paper which comes from trees

And it’s really not out of this world expensive to hire landscapers.

You don't maintain a yard on a back 40. It's typically wooded, and hopefully good for some casual hunting

You'd mow the two acres then have your own mini private forest. If there's a trout stream there as well that'd be heaven.

Don’t listen to him, put in a pool and hot tub, and pay someone to mow the rest

Woman, do you know how much land 42 acres is?

I would imagine you can’t just have people coming over every other week to mow your lawn and trim the trees on 40 acres unless you’re willing to pay a pretty good price for all of the other, easier labor they’re missing out on.

Yes, I know what an acre is, and he said it was too much for him to mow, it is not that much for people to come mow your land, they have those motorized stand up mower thingies and they get it done in like an hour or two. They send their crew with three mowers and they go to town.
