I had never heard of "Beast Machines" until I read about it tonight. It looks like the exact same thing with different names.

I haven't seen Beast Wars in more than 20 years, and I imagine that the computer animation ages reaaaaaally poorly.
So so poorly lol

Even at the time, the computer animation felt horrible. The story just made it awesome cause characters got killed off. I can’t really recall if anyone stayed dead but they played with that a bunch. There may have been three versions cause the first reboot was the same plot of them both crashing on a planet but there was a third where the good guys landed on the enemy to planet and were super outnumbered. There’s a ton of nostalgia with that first version though.

absolutely hated that version of Megatron tho.

Waspinator died in, like, every episode and yet still ended up ruling the cave people

I thought that the animation in BW was - litrully - the bee's knees. Reboot, another mid-1990s computer animation show, not so much.

beast machines was pretty good,

but it was in that era of miss one Saturday and you'll never get a chance to see the episode again. especially the finale episodes.

I fucking hated that.

How does that work?

The no interest loans themselves here in Australia are only small loans, often limited to low income families, and endorsed/monitored by the appropriate authorities (Islamic Councils). The same options are available to everyone that qualifies (ie not only to Muslims), but though different organisations. There are private organisations offering Islamic Finance which are subject to all the normal financial regulations.
I thought the Syariah Court in Singapore provided a similar endorsement for their more comprehensive Islamic Banking, but actually when I looked it up it seems it's been largely done in collaboration with Indonesia (Komite Nasional Keuangan Syariah) and Malaysia (Skim Perbankan Islam) without a local body (aside from the usual financial regulation).

Damn I love when a thread from the heavies gets sent to the warroom

That Trump just bleed thread was a fun read

Sounds like class war? Well, why shouldn't it? Fuck the upper class. Those motherfuckers put themselves into position to make the rules and then made sure the rules favored them and fucked everyone else. And no, don't worry, I'm not joining any revolutions any time soon. I'm talking about ideal versions of reality here. Having said that, it would be great to see those cunts taken down a peg. There's obviously some nuance that needs to be applied to the concept. Popular public courses that serve lower (than the wealthy) income people should stay that way and rich people should be told to pound fucking sand.

And those other things you described don't take up the acres and acres a golf course does nor do they need to be watered end to end almost daily, never mind about the insecticides, loss of diversity and local ecosystems, so yeah, golf in particular should go.

Yes F those mutha fuckas, starting with golf, it’s the social utility maximizing approach to policy we have all been waiting for.:)

You take people down a peg when they need it by changing systems, incentives, and punishments. Not cherry picking some particular “thing” you don’t like. Things like pesticide use, cost of land, water supply, and environmental disruption can all be regulated by a combination of government rules and market forces.

An amusement park does not take up tons of land, use more resources, destroy the environment more? I can think of much bigger contributors to pesticides and environmental disruption than a municipal golf course on the outskirts of a city. Why is water (not scarce in some places) and land (no scarcity of land) so important that we need to ban golf? And again why not ban things like paintball (some outdoor paces are pretty big), horse riding ranches, massive public parks, convention centers (can be massive), and all homes over a certain size? I mean what’s the per foot per person per increment of time land use ratio we are coming up with here to single out golf for being in particular need of banning as a form of entertainment?

Anyway we don’t ban these other thing because some people want these things and are willing to bear the cost of having them. If a local municipality or even a private community wants to pay all the costs of having one big park with 18 holes on it, so be it.

Btw I get that there are probably some travesty of golf courses out there that have disrupted ecology, are in drought areas, propped up by govt dollars and only get used by a few. Those are legit beefs but could be said about many kinds of developments.

Still not a sport though.

<{1-17}>

I would rather watch golf and read all of that.

Yeah, reading the actual post he did say he was "closing in on his identity", which is certainly not cool.
However he had no history of being problematic, that was dealt with and I wasn't party to the conversation.
Still, it's hard for me to see Sherdoggers scrambling to fight each other in real life as anything but hilarious. Even back in the day when it happened a few times.

I had to throw a Sherdogger out of the club I used to bounce at. He had just bottled a guy on the dance floor.

Good times.

Well no accounting for taste but you do you, which is the short version anayway.

Good post other than you seem to take this much more seriously than I, but I guess I have to rebut because karate forum.

No, other the the largest venues, or at least none I've ever been to take up as much space as golf courses. And there are a lot of fucking golf courses.

PEI is the smallest and most densely populated province in Canada. Charlottetown has a vacancy rate of 0. We have 17 fucking golf courses. And again, I remind you, I made a throw away comment, mostly in jest, so of course it's lacking lots of nuance that I might otherwise get into if I thought this was a serious discussion. But mainly the rich aren't going to voluntarily do more than give lip service. That's the real point, and Carlin's too.

Disagree. "It was the world's first completely computer-animated TV series.[2][3]"
Being first and Canadian count for something, IMO. And the first couple of seasons especially were fantastic. Aged well relative to other TV shows, perhaps not. Relative to, say, the video games of the time like NFS, pretty good for a weekly series I think.

It’s an odd sentiment that seems to be reserved for golf and “space”. Golf courses are as big as a park, so I kinda get it, but I never hear anyone complaining about other forms of entertainment that need room. Like private beaches or hotspring spas are cool, I guess.
You never hear anyone complain about private beaches? I can change that. Just let me know.
