I hate having a holiday/day off in the middle of the week.

1. It feels like you have two separate Mondays in a single week
2. It throws off my internal calendar. I was legit sitting at my desk like "fuck, I have XYZ money in my account for ABC stuff I have to do and don't get paid for 2 weeks still." Then, later in the bathroom surfing IG while sitting on da throne my brain goes "wait, it's fucking Thursday you get paid in a week you idiot"

I disagree the Monday part. It feels like there isn’t a Monday in the week because it’s fragmented. I actually make a strong effort to enjoy Monday’s and wake up in a positive mood. Really sets the tone for the rest of the week imo.

Not only that but I think it makes the week a wash because most coworkers are going to take PTO to connect one of the weekends to the holiday. It might give you sometime for individual projects but anything group related comes to a grinding halt.

I loved 13 Assassins. I knew I was in for an awesome movie when the main character said something to the effect of "my hands are shaking because I never thought I'd have the opportunity to die in battle"

That is to me an attribute of the ideal man; capable of extreme violence at the drop of a hat but only willing to wield it in the service of a just cause and willing to patiently wait for one knowing full well it may never come.

I’m not too big on theology but it makes me think of a different interpretation I’ve heard of “blessed are the meek who will inherit the earth”.

The 19th century theologian James Strong argued in his Strong's Concordance #4239 that the Greek word praus (πραεῖς) means mild or gentle, but it is not suggesting weakness but instead the way power is handled. It is "strength under control". It is demonstrating power without undue harshness. The English language does not have a word that translates conveying both gentleness and power together. But perhaps the word "mercy" or "merciful" comes close to describing the exercise of power that is "strength under control".

Yeah, I think your analysis is on-point. It's part arthouse, part bro cheese. And the plot is incredibly cliche and lame.

For what it's worth and despite the overproduction and silly pilot, the first season of Spartacus ended up being way better than it had any business being. "Party Favors" is one of the most heart wrenching episodes of any show I've ever seen.

Andy Whitfield would have been a star. He had serious dramatic chops.

Not sure who you're referring to. If it's Heretic, I think it's more his natural hate and rage. If it's Yorkist, it's def mostly butthurt. If it's Sketch, it's the sadness and triviality of his life incarnate. If it's SBJJ, it's wanting to have gay sex with me.

Yea, they should’ve stuck with a stand alone season. The rest of them suck but the first one was surprisingly great.

I think the second one, the prequel season they made while expecting and waiting for Whitfield to recover, was very good.

The third season with the new guy was okay. The fourth was terrible.
