That’s why I find it weird when people want to add more weight classes and do it in ten lb increments at the larger classes. Doesn’t make sense at all and I think you can just look at LHW and HW history and see being the bigger guy didn’t mean you’d have the clear advantage. If that was the case, we would’ve had far more 265 champs. Instead, we get 230-240lb guys who don’t cut usually on top.
Yes, when you're above a certain weight you already have massive KO power with "minor" shots and being too heavy has its disadvantages, namely stress on knees(I always remember Travis Browne blowing his knee when trying to move like a LW), being slow and crap cardio.
A lot of the very heavy guys are also either on drugs like Overeem and Lesnar or fatties. Even when we have guys who are naturally very big like Struve they usually suck.

I have an argument with someone every year or so about this topic: he seems to think that eventually the average size of hockey player will continue to rise until like 6'5, or whatever it is in basketball. I fucking don't think so. My argument is that Basketball and Volleyball select for height by the nature of the sport: you very obviously have a huge advantage if you are closer to the basket, or between the basket and the ball as a defender. It's easier to get the ball over the net as a taller person. But what is that selecting criteria in hockey? Even as a goalie if you're extremely tall, you have a massive 5 hole. I think it's more that the practical limit for a hockey player is about 6'5, with very few exceptions.

@Gregolian will now be a complete homosexual about Zdeno Chara for about 3 posts.

No idea about hockey as I don't even know how many players you have in that sport but it seems height is important even when buying bagels

That 5'8" guy is raging because nobody takes him seriously, eventually we will all be 6'5"+

Lol 5'8 is generous. Manlet gets put in his rightful place.

The guy's argument, charitably interpreted, is that we have very little participation in hockey, so we're very likely not sampling from the top of the height distribution often enough to get someone who is tall and talented: to find our ''Lebron.'' But that doesn't deal with the fact that there are more registered soccer players in Germany than there are registered minor hockey players in the rest of the world, and still we don't see giants dominating the sport of soccer. The best big man is who? Zlatan?

Oh I see, we get some version of that for all sports. One day we will have NBA/NFL guys dominating MMA HW, if only LeBron played "soccer" etc. Something about A vs B athletes etc.

"You want to step outside?!? I ain't afraid. Go ahead and attack me brAHGHHHHGHHH..."

<Lmaoo>

I hope he learned his lesson. Short male privilege is not a thing, and even manlets must adhere to the "Talk Shit Get Hit" rules of society.

Also, that guy is lying his ass off about being 5'8. He's 5'0 at best. He's one of those weird hybrid grown adult midgets.

Edit - my mistake. He said he was 5'0. I heard "feet" as "eight". Sorry little man, my bad.

Askren is taking that loss better than I expected. Wonder if it'll last. Could be a great thing for him.

He's real and likes to talk shit. That's just about it. Also best possible way to poke some fun at yourself because the gifs will last for a lifetime.

He's still rounding up.

Some still say, that Sakuraba died in a PRIDE ring.

A lot of Japanese fighters did. I can't remember which fight it was, but I remember them literally dragging this one half conscious guy to the middle of the ring, so they could reset. You can tell with certain fights, the Yakuza were tinkering with the official outcome.

I got dubs for posting ass floss once before it was allowed. I'm basically a martyr.

Sorry. Couldn't resist

I've only ever gotten "chills" for big fights or returns. GSP vs Bisping was one, obviously Nick's fights, Nathan vs Conor.....haven't really gotten "chills" for a fight in a while.
As far as that kind of feeling goes, i'm pretty much toast now that Hunto is gone.

Actually, the chase reverses, so its bi-directional. Its nonsensical for sure, but it is simultaneously spectacular.
It is a movie I love, but not one I would ever recommend.

You’re bidirectional......I kid of course

Anyway well nice to see after 3 plus decades and 4 films they get to go in reverse.

It’s mind candy, I don’t hold that against anyway. If I can enjoy Designated Survivor, I have no room to throw stones at anyone.

Wait are you actually arguing that Fury Road isn't amazing? If its not your kind if movie I can get that but its hands down one the best films to come out in the last five years.

On topic of bans, who here has never had yellows even once?

Is there anyone?
Well I certainly haven't.

I don’t remember getting any infractions but it’s completely likely early on. Back in 09, I was really foul mouthed in the heavies. Someone even liked a post of mine from 2010 (thread must’ve gotten bumped or something) and I was initially confused what was going on because I didn’t think I’d post something like that.
Why can't you behave?
