Seriously how do you guys like this stuff. It's so popular that this was posted by CNN.

Because its awesome. As someone who added scrubs to their top sitcoms lists, I wouldn't critique others preference in entertainment

Scrubs is my favorite sitcom. And I love pro wrestling.

Hmm, Scrubs was pretty critically acclaimed. I don't think there are tv and film critics lining up to see Stone Cold beating on a guy with hammerfists to the shoulder in a convenience store.

And keep in mind that I was brought to MMA because of Ken Shamrock's stint in the WWF, so it's not like I've never given the stuff a chance.

Yeah, considering wwe/f is among the longest running episodic TV entities and Stone cold sold millions in gate revenue and merch - I'd say the people have spoken on the popularity of pro wrasslin'

I didn't dispute that it's popular. I realize it's popular. I just don't understand why it's popular with intelligent adult people. When I liked it as a kid (ages 8-11), it was specifically during an era when they tried to make their story lines more adult-oriented. But now that I have gotten older and the product has apparently gotten younger in terms of its orientation, I totally don't get the appeal at all.

Kind of like The Big Bang Theory or American Idol. I won't dispute, obviously, that they're hugely popular. But I don't understand how smart people enjoy them.

The athleticism has gotten much better, the characters less gimmicky and more accessible through social media. The cast is more diverse appealing to women and minorities (50 percent of the fan base is black and Latino) and since going public the company being more pg means the programing has to be entertaining for the parents as well as kids.

Stone cold is and was 675x more famous than any of your favorite TV people. To this day.

Is that the ice cream fellow? I think I've been to one of his creameries.

Well, you're old so chalk it up to things like you people don't understand: driving above the speed limit in the passing lane, modern technology, popular music, not getting up 5x at night to pee, room temperature below 78 degrees

"alpha" always brings up images of this guy ...

Man, it's crazy to think about all the stuff that happened back in the attitude days. The Rock would KO Stephanie McMahon every other week.

Yeah, having hot blondes being on all fours, barking like a dog for their male boss / employees kissing your bare ass / putting 80 yr old women through tables / then have her give birth to a hand - just wouldn't fly into today's outrage climate. Hard to argue it was geared for a more intelligent audience just because it was more adult content focus.

Although i do miss the chair shots to the head and legit blood; also the the overt allowance of steroids (I can definitely see why they inserted the wellness policy considering a wrestlers life span was comparable to someone living in the 1700's.

The unprotected chair shots were the worst part of the AE. Of course, I loved them at the time, but it's hard to watch now, looking back

Oh, my son, you have no idea. Look up Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling. I was watching that shit back in the 70's. But then I passed adolescence and their fake shit no longer had any appeal and waited 2 decades for the real thing, MMA, to come along.

I never liked the real vs fake argument - its scripted for sure, but it's as real as any other stunt person in entertainment, which is pretty cool to watch and does hurt like a mofo
