Before I ever interacted with him or knew who he was, he was throwing all kinds of ugly flames at me. Despite that, I was nice when he PMed me a couple of times. Then he continued to flame me out of nowhere. I mostly just ignored it, then I just mentioned that my experience with him is that he flames me out of nowhere, and I think he's a shitty person. Later, he made a really ugly comment, and I just said "lovely." He followed with more, and I didn't respond.

This is some serious dime-store psychoanalysis but it struck me that he was ragging on you to endear himself to the "JVS sucks" crowd. Human behavior to want to be part of a group, depending on your level of extroversion or introversion. To form alliances as quickly as he did and then bail like that is odd and makes it seem like some sort of mood disorder, certainly I can sympathize with that.

Seemed like a nice enough fellow, I certainly hope he's OK.

Well that’s a good point about Nixon. But it continued after Nixon and then Reagan even ramped it up further.

I think there’s lots of blame to be had after Nixon still from the people continuing it. But yes Nixon was the start of the modern drug war and you’re totally correct about his motivation also.
