The Computer also cheats in Civ in order to make the game more difficult since it is too hard for them to program a competent AI
LOL yeah. At the highest difficulty pretty sure they start with 3 free techs, 2 cultural picks, and an extra settler to start.

Smash is just so different that its only natural that its community and the community of other FG don't have a lot of cross over. Like you said, its a children's party game at the end of the day

That's what kind of annoys me about tryhard Smash players. If I find myself at a Smash tourney its just to play four player friendlys with items at the back. The game is so awesome when you play with all the elements. One-on-one is fine for a bit but I get bored of it so quickly.
Unfortunately most of the skills you need to play Smash do not translate well to other games in the FGC, and vice versa. Even the understanding of distancing/zoning is completely different due to the movement.

I like and see value if both ways to play but there is something to be said about having to remove all items and most levels in order to make it competitive. I honestly wish they would use all the levels at least, would make it more fun to watch IMO (though people running away on larger maps could be an issue)

You aren't really defending it from slander, though. I'm being over critical for the lolz, but this all started when you asserted it was the most technical fighting game when it is not.

This has been proven with the sign ups for larger events. Smash has the lowest amount of crossover compared to the other games.

Also they smell bad.

Bro, I'll tell ya: They all smell bad.

My buddy Otis used to throw fests at his house for Melee and SF2 and he had a deodorant rule. As in, if you stink, you gotta go.

I think Divine they start with two settlers then another one spawns for them on turn 3 or some crazy shit like that

You have to play differently depending on the difficulty which is one of my main complaints about Civ. At some point you have to play the difficulty not the game... if that makes sense.

Probably still smells better than a Furry convention

That's something Smash has over Mortal Kombat at least. Their best player isn't some weirdo furry with a bunch of degenerate fetishes.

I watch this guy Quill18 play Civ a decent amount and he mentions it in a few of his vids about how certain difficulties are basically unplayable to get wins via anything but straight up conquest cause of how much extra shit the AI gets at the start.

I think there are plenty of things to suggest that she is but like I said to Trotsky I don't see the conversation going anywhere. Didn't want to ignore your post but I think it's safe to say that nobody is going to change the other's mind on it. She's been a fairly substantial public figure even before becoming VP so if you don't think she is then nothing I say will change it. Plus those type of debates typically end poorly. Not saying you would be unfair but it's probably better served not to walk that path.
I'm not asking you to change my mind, I'm simply asking why you think she's racist. Even if I disagree I might understand why you see it that way. I know she gets a bad rap for her career as CA AG but I haven't seen it framed as her being racist.

Smash has a kind of platforming element to it that really sets it apart from other fighting games. Personally I am only half joking when I call it a party game because really that's what it is.

I guess I understand removing certain stages where the stage hazards are too intrusive but yes I agree, its lame that you only play on a handful of maps.

Other even non-fighting games run into that problem. There was a 7-8 month period in Rainbow Six Siege where in Unranked and Ranked you basically only played Oregon to the point I hate that map now (and it's one of the better ones).

@Rational Poster

I'm a huge fan of the "anons" on Sherdog that are now aghast that the government is monitoring their PUBLIC social media posts. And are acting like this is some grave transgression.

Like hello, what do you think ANONYMOUS is? Why might they have been anonymous?

I feel like I'm 2 seconds away from someone saying "the internet is a series of tubes" and then it will truly be 2005 again.

You have to play aggressive no matter what at higher difficulties (unless you end up alone on a continent)
Basically at higher levels you have to rush slingers and try to capture a nearby city state in order to keep up with the AI early game

Furries are fucking weird, man

Most of them wear diapers at events because getting in and out of those costumes every time you have to go to the bathroom takes up too much time

Imagine the smell

Yeah the party game stuff is just jokes, lol. Low hanging fruit to rile up smashers. I would love to see them play some of the more complex maps, I also think it could possibly make more characters viable since most of them are useless in 1v1 Final Destination type match ups.

There are people who still only play Dust II on Counterstrike

So....white flag?

It's not even that. A lot of people can't think in terms of "true/false or right/wrong." It's just "good/bad or ally/enemy." I mean, it's a spectrum and most people most of the time find it easier and thus preferable to think in terms of the latter categories if there's a controversy, but some people are particularly extreme. Any attempt to actually think through an issue is seen as hot air by people on the right end of that spectrum.

To me its not a joke and it gets at what you said earlier, how you have to strip the game of most of its elements to make it fit the mold of a competitive fighting game. And that's because its really a party game and one that was and is made primarily for children since its a Nintendo flagship game. The fact that Smash players get so salty at that fundamental truth is pretty sad, no wonder the FGC dislikes the Smash community.

And I say this as Smash player.

Just to throw in it surprises me you don't see DoA more in fighting game tourneys and stuff. I know it has a rep for just being about tittie physics but some of the characters like Bass, Tina, Bayman, Leon, and Ryu have stupid crazy combos.

Opiates are a weird one for me because it's absolutely one of my favorite highs but I never got addicted to the point I just had to have them. When they were around I would partake. I think it had a lot to do with simple economics; I could make $100 bucks of weed last a good while but I could go through $100 of pills in less than 48 hours.

I figure if I'd have had @LazaRRus money back in 2000 or so I would in all likelihood be six feet under.
I get you. I'm similar in that I will be tempted to do most stuff if it is put in front of me (I draw a hard line at needles), and when it's not around I can do without. That is especially true for pot and alcohol.
