I know guys who were in the wec and were making more than the average NOW. And this is a decade later and a much more commercially successful sport now

Who wants to get punched in the face for peanuts when you can go be an 8 rounder or contender in boxing for like 2-3 times that OR go play in the NFL or MLB or basketball or low level pros for that and make just as much.

And boxer's contract money might not be great unless you're a "name" but at least you can supplement that with you know... FIGHT SPONSORS LIKE YOU USED TO BE ABLE TO DO IN THE UFC.

yeah, do you guy's want to be a fighter for only 2000 grand and maybe a life of CTE. Hell they didn't have insurance for the fighters for year's. Nothing shocks me anymore with the UFC low balling fighters. They need a fighters Union and fight back against the UFC and the higher ups.

Or guy's need to leave and go fight for other orgs.

Problem is UFC has huge coffers that Bellator and WSOF can't match.

Boxing has plenty of issues with promoters and an alphabet soup of title belts but at least the top guys there get paid what they're worth. It's why I don't like Jones I get him playing hardball with the UFC over pay for a possible Nganou fight. He shouldn't focus so much on it being 8 or 10 mil but focus more on a percentage of sales and shit.

*Like, yes Jon should definitely try to get pay per view points. Let's be honest Jon vs Francis will sell like hot cakes. I would even buy that card for just that fight alone. Do the fight in possibilty in July with covid 19 vaccines going on and it will do hella numbers.

Iirc Benson Henderson said what he lost on the contract he more than made up for with the sponsors, and he didn't have to deal with Dana.

That's "Fight Week Incentive Pay" (what they are paid per fight to wear the gear, do promotions and meet the "code of conduct"). No idea how that figures into their overall contracts.

Application in for that 35-40 bucks an hour job. Here's hoping.

 
Damn. Need to go a second round on my eyelid surgery thing next week. Gross. They first cut the lid hoping to catch all the bad stuff this time around, but then essentielly leave the wound open.. then next day confirm that (hopefully) they caught it all and then the day after that start reconstructing the eyelid by transplanting some of the upper eye lid inner tissue (so no skin), but they don't just cut it out but rather build a muscosal bridge, so... I will only be able to see to the left and the right side of that eye for like a month while shit heals up.
Urgh
