I got an uncle that got 75 years for killing his estranged wife's boyfriend. The BF went to my uncle's house to take their infant child and told him they were all coming with him. My uncle had bought a gun days before and shot his ass right on the porch. He then held his wife captive in the house for a few hours before turning himself in to police.

Completely clean record, no history of violence, 75 years. But his dumbass did tell the judge that he regretted nothing and only wished he would have killed his wife and killed himself instead.
