Holy shit, you worked at Relapse?

What did you do there?

Mailorder grunt to mailorder manager to accountant to running the joint as VP. Throw in some A&R and micromanaging graphics/production from time to time. :D

This was mostly "99-'09. But a little in '93-'94.

He actually outshined Kurt Russell on cool factor which was shocking, but Kurt practically took over as the director of that flick and Val had all the best lines of dialogue. He didn't exactly look too bad during that era either, wtf happened.
Wonder why he played the character as gay however.

I really would prefer to never listen to green day. But if I do it's the Warning album. No idea why that album just hits me in the right spot.
When I hear warning I think Take Warning by Operation Ivy. A solid fucking choice.

Also I'm really not proud of my drunk ass gleeful laughing but this Teamkill was solid as fuck. The entire match was literally the best game I've played as this character so I couldn't stop laughing.

Starting stream now too.

I like go to church on Sunday. I think its on that album

I prefer insomniac which I think was their best album or 39 smooth.

Christy road was one of my first im stoned and I love this song songs.

It us on that album. Its my #2 song behind Macy's day parade cuz my aunt took me to see it live once so the song always reminds me of her that makes it my #1

My favorite as well.
Warning is for sure the most unique of their albums. It has a very particular feel to it that sort of defies placement. I'm pretty sure that during, or right after, was about the time when Billie Joe first started noticing that his voice might be going out. It was definitely during the span between Warning and American Idiot that his voice went bye bye, which really is a bummer.

I'm following you!!!!

I've heard nothing but good things from the dude. That day, however, is when he was closing Hydra Head for good and was having a major sale. Was probably irritable from dealing with the closing and the fuckload of people who showed up. Had to argue with him to use the bathroom and while I was in there rocking a piss I saw it hanging up in the bathroom so I grabbed it when I left.

No Ragrets

Funny. He put out that last Oxbow record a couple years ago so I guess it wasn't totally for good. Or was this after that?

Again those are the only 2 Westerns I like.

Not really sure what to point to outside of Val Kilmer's performance.

While Kilmer definitely carries a lot of it with his amazing performance, it's got a tight script that was brought to life with a great cast. It's a little "traditional" and safe, and the subject matter, even at that time was a bit played out, but there's not much to really complain about. It's just a tight little movie. There's no real filler and it keeps the momentum going all the way until the end. Only thing you can really complain about, is that it might've been a bit too "Hollywood" and didn't take any chances, but that doesn't make a movie bad. It's something artsy hipsters complain about, without really explaining what could've made it better.

Stand by your friends wrong or right ....

You like the long Beach dub Allstars cover from the all cover album from many years ago ?

My favorite as well.

Its funny to me you guys like that one the best. To me that was when I went from them not being my favorite thing to listen to to an active dislike.

I kinda feel like nimrod is sort of underrated. I really liked walking alone and king for a day and the grouch

It was def a different tone. I enjoyed the use of the acoustic guitar and the more somber sound.

I always figured you for a metal kinda dude.

Which album do you like best ?
I'd say Warning is my favorite album, but anything pre-2004 is solid gold for different reasons. I think the best built album is unquestionably Nimrod, but Insomniac is the most fun. Dookie is just pure childhood nostalgia. The stuff before then is fun, too, but a lot more raw and less fully built.
Here's an anecdote:
My family moved up to Oregon when I was about 7, and there was a music video channel called The Box. It was one of those situations where songs would scroll across the bottom and you could call in to make requests. So my cousins were all big into gangster rap, which is fine, but unlike most of them I was actually from the hood and wasn't impressed by music video drive-by shootings and shit lol. So Gangster's Paradise is playing, and everyone is all into it, and then the next video that comes on is completely different. Not just the music and the energy, but the colors. I was like ".......This... this is amazing... what IS THIS???". It was the video for Basket Case, and my love of Green Day has persisted ever since.

No it closed way before that
The Oxbow release was a one time thing that happened but since then he's talked about possibly releasing more records

The basket case video is a great example of 90s color and 90s music video style. I have always liked that one. I was in 6th grade I think and my first school dance might as well have been Dookie and smash on a loop

Weird, since Oxbow was never a real seller. I tried to get Relapse to sign 'em after seeing the live show at the Neurot fest, but zero other people at the label liked the band. So they went with HH. Most of what I liked on HH was stuff they licensed from Relapse! Harvey Milk was the only other band he did I'd spend money on.

@Gutter Chris @Wet Blanket @Rebelfett @AgonyandIrony
Here's another Green Day anecdote
I saw them in 2004 on the American Idiot tour, which is an album I won't just sit and listen to but produced probably the best show I have ever seen in my life.
They do this thing during a lot of their shows where they pause a certain song halfway through and get people from the crowd to come up and finish playing it. The dude that they let play the guitar could clearly see that this was his Moment In Life, and at the end just started absolutely shredding that thing. I mean he was playing his fucking heart out. Song was over, but he was completely in the zone. One of the roadies came on stage to go stop him, and Billie Joe did a double take: "What are you doing? Don't interrupt a guy when he's rocking like that." They let him play out his solo AND THEN, after it was done and he was about to crawl back down into the crowd, Billie Joe stopped him and said "You know what dude? You can keep the guitar." They gave it to him then took him backstage so it wouldn't get stolen or ruined.
It was pretty amazing to see. The crowd went absolutely berserk.
