War Room Lounge v173: IIRC, taco bell's beef was something like 20% oats

Indeed. I'm mainly just making a point about about putting these sorts of opinions in such absolute terms. Nothing personal.

Nothing is absolute. But just the same people lie and in business and personal relationships you have to make some quick assessments about people. Im sure you have a system too. Or maybe you trust people more than i do.

@Jack V Savage

I was thinking about the housing market and how real estate as an investment ends up buoying the prices of the housing market such that many people get priced out and forced to rent. I know there's a lot of red tape due to NIMBYism that could be cut to help the problem but would it also be worthwhile to somehow discourage that kind of real estate investing so that more homes are owned as residential properties rather than investment ones?

My understanding of the research (and I don't have anything handy) is that that isn't a material factor in housing prices. So I wouldn't support discouraging it. If that's wrong, I would revisit my position.

This is what has happened in Toronto and Vancouver. Our houses and condos are bought as investment properties and rent is now 2300 dollars on average for a one bedroom apartment, homes are 1 million plus for tiny shacks.
Yes, I was pretty grossed out listening to some woman on the radio this morning complaining her business of settling Chinese immigrants was struggling because of travel restrictions impacting immigration, and about how they put a really high priority on buying houses. I know there are plenty of regular Jiangs there who come in and just want to have a good life for themselves and their families, but there are also a shit ton of rich mofos buying up properties and driving up real estate and rent prices. I also am totally against AirBnB and such profiteering so I think it's likely I'd go much further than you if either of us had the clout to directly address the problem.

You sound poor

My only one on that list is dogs. Not divorced. Not a cheater.

But I was bitten by a dog as a kid and then knocked down by another one (though it was well intentioned on the part of the dog--just that he was about my size and I didn't brace for impact when he went up on two legs and put his forlegs on me--and that fucked me for appreciating even friendly dogs. They often smell bad (I have an exceptional nose) and you're sticky after they lick you (I'm mental about stickiness).

So, love 'em all you want, and I won't glare at you if you keep them on a tight leash, but keep them the fuck away from me, TYVM. At this point, I've more or less come to terms and I can tolerate being around them and what not, but I will fucking near brain you if your dog lurches at me when you're walking him and we pass on the street. And then you have the lovely people walking their dogs that will stop and talk and block the entire sidewalk and the only way around them is to head out into the street because they don't even make a gesture to move out of the way.

So yeah, fucking red flag me all you want, and yeah I have issues, but my issues with dogs are legit as fuck.
I see his point but I separate people like you who are uncomfortable with dogs and people who don't like dogs in the abstract. I'm uncomfortable with large dogs myself, I have to get to know them to feel at ease around them.

I knew a guy who was pretty much every rightist's worst nightmare--a high school teacher who had a side business selling marijuana (which is how I knew him--a close friend of mine was a regular customer) and would distribute Communist literature along with his main product to some customers. Guy was super intense and looked it. Long, white beard, skinny but strong-looking, Manson eyes. Really in favor of violent revolution, and a hardcore CTer. I heard he had a big flag of Cuba hung up in his house. Super anti-racist, too (white, BTW). The friend of mine who bought from him wasn't a big reader, and he'd pass the stuff on to me and later introduced us ("this is the guy I was telling you about who actually reads all the shit you give me"). We argued a bit, but it ended with a handshake. That led to him dropping his literature off to me directly ("read, absorb, pass on"). A lot of hot garbage, but also some good stuff mixed in. Led me somewhat indirectly to read Kropotkin and many other interesting anarchist thinkers (kind of weird that he'd mix Marxist stuff in with like Bakunin denouncing Marx) that did influence me. He's probably long dead by now. Been maybe 20 years since I've seen him, and he didn't seem like he had anywhere near that long to go.
"I've got some literature in the truck of my car that will change your whole way of thinking about things!"

Where I worked was luckily a small enough town that the cops had bouncers backs. And the owners knew this so if some bouncer took liberties with customers they got fired, and fired fast.

That plus the owners put tons of cameras everywhere to prove that we bouncers never swung first.

Our bar got into it once with a group of guys that thought they were a street gang.

"You really want to start shit?"
"You just a fat fuck with a bunch of other fat bouncers"
"Well one, I'm the only fat bouncer here the rest of the guys aren't... and second, you really think your group of 5 is a gang? You look like pussies"
"You trying to start something?"
"Yeah, cause my black t-shirt with the white letters of 'SECURITY' means I am in the biggest gang in town... and the guys that arrest gang members that wear blue and have shields know we only react and don't start the shit"

Those dudes ended up in a dumpster at the end of the night after getting folded like lawnchairs.

I would hate to be a bouncer dude. I hate drunken fools with the passion of a jilted lover . My da and my best mate have pushed me to the point of wanting it to be illegal again.

What's interesting about this, is that the dogs will pick up on your weary behavior. It is tough for people who don't naturally like or get along with them. I understand you guys fully, it's a wild animal after-all. Trying to explain 'lol dude just walk towards it and be confident' sounds like hogwash but it actually is the best advice you could give. Now, you should always approach them with respect, put out your hand for the sniff test and obverse its tail and body language as well of course.

Could you GOP be any more shameless? Making an attack ad based on "he sent texts to a woman that isn't his wife!" while defending a party leader who raw dogged a porn star while his wife was nursing their newborn. Not to mention the various other GOP Congressional stars like Ted Cruz that have had extramarital affairs.

I love when people ask to give me something to read like oh yea lemme see where this is headed and how nuts your cult is. I wish id encounter communists and militias but its usually just jahovah

I've gotten a lot better about it, I have some mindfulness tricks that I use when I get nervous and the nervousness I get from dogs is pretty mild as long as the owner is nearby by. A stray dog though? Fuck that.

I remember once there were these two pits when I was biking around my neighborhood. I was out of high school already so not even a kid anymore mind you but still I was terrified of them and they were blocking my way back. I wasn't even far from home but I didn't want them to follow me to my yard because I have cats so even if they don't fuck me up they could maul one of them. Anytime I got within a certain range they'd look at me and get up. I was like "fuck" and backed off. I was just standing there for like five, maybe ten minutes, just thinking about how to get around them. It was at a four way stop and eventually this guy with a big pick up truck stops. He lowers his window and asks "these dogs bothering you?" and I laughed in embarrassment and nodded so he blocked them for me so I can get past. I got momentum going and biked as fast as I could and didn't look back til I got home.

Wait what? For real? How did I miss this?

I like dogs.

But strange dogs who I don't know the owners or that are just out roaming. They still worry me.
