I always go intermediate.

Well, I do ride the treadly as well for exercise, but I can't say I'm passionate about it.
Yeah, as with most things, do a few sessions with the racers and it'll deflate any fantasies about your abilities.
I'm not a regular track rider either (mostly because of the cost), but even doing a few sessions and following someone that really knows their stuff can help a lot with improving lines and technique. I've considered doing one of the advanced riding courses they offer, just because it reduces your insurance premium.
I imagine it's the same for the cars, although the only car track days I've watched were a drift competition and an open track before club racing.

I didn't say ignore them i said understand what they are, the role they play and their limitations as a viable metric.

I didn't say you did. I said that your position is right if you ignore the vast majority of the population and focus on angry Internet posters. Most people don't even follow politics. Most people who do don't know enough to even really have an ideology. Fascist message-board posters who are stewing in hatred of liberal America are a small enough group that they can just go away. Like I said, seastead or buy some land in New Zealand and have your racially pure paradise or whatever with no minorities or people interfering with the fantasy world they've constructed.
