I remember a while back when it was hard to get access to puroresu (Japanese pro wrestling). Normally had to get it on eBay, and it was often iffy. I found out about and went to a Japanese video store, and I asked if they had any. The guy didn't seem to get me at first but then his eyes lit up with understanding and he said no, but this other store had some. So I looked up the address and checked it out. It was clear from the beginning that it was some kind of sex shop--toys and a huge selection of videos that seemed to be exclusively in that genre. But mostly Japanese, and I figured maybe they have a small side section. Tried to ask, but the guy wasn't following. He did try to steer me to some new arrivals, and I was like, "no no no ... well, hey, this actually looks pretty good. ... Hate to come all this way and leave empty-handed..."

Michael Chabon wrote a Jewish detective novel that was really fucking amazing (set in a fictional Sitka Alaska that had been made to a temporary Jewish refugee site in 1941 and had become a Jewish metropolis with an uncertain political future by the time of the story). Top 10 of the 2000s so far, IMO. I think a Muslim Big Sleep could be a lot of fun, too.

Besides, since you use the smearing tactic of referencing one's alleged affinity for donuts, one's recollection of a college frat party and drink-spiking, a speculative analysis of one's father's alpha status, etc. to undermine a poster's credibility by character assassination, then accusations of others playing "dirty pool" by playing "like police" don't hold much weight.

People will often like stuff that they'd never post because they feel like it goes too far or something. Definitely not something to totally dismiss. But sometimes it's ironic or it's saying "I read your post but I have nothing to say about it." Or something like that. I don't have a problem answering questions about my likes.
