War Room Lounge v146: Federal Goon used "Bludgeon"! But it's not that effective...

Not gonna lie, the Michelle Obama tranny stuff is probably in my top 10 or 15 right-wing pet arguments that piss me off.
Same. The overt racism involved, and the fact that they have literally nothing to criticize her about, so they invent stuff really gets me going.

Will do. It'll be awhile since I'm relatively weak compared to the last time I set a PR. But I'm putting at least 10 pounds more on every session so hopefully not too long. I hope to be back up to snuff in about 6 months. I'll probably be able to post my squat soon though, since I never really did get that to anything respectable (I didn't have a squat rack back then, and the gym I was at would only let me do partials so I just abandoned it).

The big change that I'm immediately happy about is that I'm drinking a lot less. Went from 2-3 beers a night to around 5 per week. I'm drinking a ton of milk, and the last thing I want is to put milk-on-top-of-beer or vice versa.

What's your bench at now? Good luck with that.

my bench is about 240-245ish right now.

yea, since staring working out seriously, I curbed my drinking about 90 percent.

I drink maybe once every two weeks.

I just never could understand how that doesn't turn off the people formerly known as social conservatives. Now that I know that civility was literally never of the slightest concern to those scumbags, it makes more sense.

I think it's more of an "alls fair in love and war". But it's kind of neither here nor there. We're not the people we imagine we are; at the end of the day we're the sum of our behaviors and actions. Beliefs, principals and values are only useful if they guide our behavior and actions. Otherwise it's just wishful thinking.

Yeah I have Jewish (ashkenazi) ancestry and family but I don’t practice. I’m Buddhist as far as religious practice. I got all kinds of stuff mixed in, though. I got some Viking blood in there as well (DNA test says “broadly Scandinavian), which is where my son gets his light hair I’m sure.
Jewish history is quite fascinating, I've not studied enough of it. How did they end up in Polynesia?
If you like Coates too, I thought this was a good listen and meant to post it for @AgonyandIrony:

I'll be sure to check it out, looks interesting thanks for the heads up... Although I don't really support such things.

Oh speaking of saw this was in Portland and it made my heart happy.

Nice, post your PRs when you hit them.

My bench goal is 260 by 8/1

Bro you out here hitting Puerto Ricans and taking pictures after? Fucking wild.

You know, I hate being called a "soy boy".

Not because I'm offended at the weird notion that consuming soy makes you weak or whatever.

But like... Oatmilk is way better than soymilk.
For real. Oat + Almond milk is what I use on cereal. Good stuff.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Coates. And I think that article I linked (as well as, to a lesser extent, the sort-of call out by Cornell West) accurately explains why.

I thought his book was terribly overrated. the poor man's Malcolm X as I call it.

You ever see that video of Floyd Mayweather Sr. talking to some scrawny MMA fan, and the kid keeps saying "you don't know what us MMA guys bring!"? 100% that kid calls people soy-boy on the internet.

I wonder how many people out there avoid soy for fear of being called soy-boy. Those are the true soy-boys.

I think theoretically I disagree with him a lot, but that also that he's a beautiful writer and has a lot to add even to more practical conversations like the one I posted.

My wife works at a brewery, and I like beer, so I still have one on the evenings usually since she brings home all kinds of new stuff. I never really had a drinking problem*, but I did have a habit problem. I'd find myself opening up a beer that I didn't even want sometimes, because I had just conditioned myself to have one during certain activities (like watching fights, yard work, playing games).

(well, I did at one point but it was actually an anger problem that required me to step away from drinking to fix)

Tofu can be pretty good if you cook it right.

I can't stand the stuff. But I have hang ups with food textures and consistency. Usually new, odd flavors I'm good with but if something doesn't feel right then it's a deal breaker.

good on you homie, for making these postive changes in your life.

Violence/Genocide: Do not condone violence or genocide on a person or group of people. You are free to attack a person or groups ideas but you are crossing the line when calling for violence. This will be heavily enforced in threads with breaking news involving victims.

I think they made this specifically for you

That's fair. Surely it's not for everyone. I like to cut it into maybe half inch squares. Let them sit in sesame oil for half an hour, spice it with cumin, garlic, and cayenne. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes. Get that very delightful crunch-to-soft texture. Think country-fried potatoes.
