War Room Lounge v146: Federal Goon used "Bludgeon"! But it's not that effective...

I disagree that it’s aged any more poorly than any topical comedy. It’s comedy. If anyone expected it to actually change bigots into sane people then that’s on their blind optimism and poor understanding of psychology.

I’m lifting in my hot ass garage still. On weekends that’s usually at high noon, otherwise it’s at about 1500. Even at 0400 it’s 90 degrees so not a big difference. But my wife is training for a marathon so I don’t envy her running 14+ miles a day.

we should post pics of our home gym. what does yours look like?

Well, that is how it was presented or at least described. Maybe not by Colbert, who wasn't exceptionally political at the time that he got his show, but certainly by Jon Stewart. He believed himself a real influencer in national politics. But, even though I liked Stewart's show and like his politics quite a bit, his show didn't do anything other than teach liberals to trivialize politics while conservatives were being taught that politics is a war in which every battle has existential ramifications.

Man, what a let down. Took a few easy questions, that he did not really answer, and ran off. He must be terrified of press conferences at this point.

However, I'm not going to act like I'm pure and good enough to not get some enjoyment out of seeing conservatives put under the boot for once.

I gotcha. I don't know that I have a way for graphing or even describing the variety of perspectives and ways of thinking in re race. I think it's important to understand the role that race has played and still plays in policy and politics, but I think it's also important to not necessarily use race as a vehicle for positive change just because it was a vehicle for negative change in the past.

Yea, its still something I’m conflicted with recently but I think acknowledging the approaches helps somewhat instead of seeing a binary (racists and non racists). I think we are at the point where we have to ask ourselves is one good intentioned policy or narrative going to indirectly knock us two steps back or actually move us forward. Society has become complex/ quick to change that it makes it hard for me to reach a firm opinion each time a specific issue arises.

Wouldn't you be ?

He has trouble opening his mouth without putting his foot in it.

I was hoping for a bit of a ramble.

Though mentioning that Maxwell used to frequent his club and wishing her well, while she is awaiting charges for child trafficking was pretty Trump.

Well I don’t doubt that they were influencers. But influencing people who have already been indoctrinated into philosophies of hatred or who have deep psychological issues is an entirely separate discipline from regular trend-setting type influencing.

In my garage I have about 2/3 of the floor space covered in lifting mats. Olympic barbells/plates, adjustable dumbbells set, kettlebells from 25-55 lbs. Squat rack, pull-up bar, bench, rowing machine, and cycle-ops (for wife- into triathlons). Inside the house we have a spin bike too.

My wish list includes a rickshaw, yoke and a Swiss bar.

Yeah I browse their Reddit sometimes. I tried talking a guy into getting an AR over an AK but he just wouldn’t budge.

They’ve got some good stories too.

That's amazing.

Human beings are naturally hypocrites.

I would still view it as just as wrong and illegal to see cops beating and tasing and macing conservative protesters.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't chuckle.

This plays into how race issues don’t nearly fit on the party spectrum cause you have at least three groups:

1. Racists- self explanatory. Race is very important and the result is segregation, persecution, etc to improve society

2. “Woke” (Not the name I’d assign but since the video went that route)- Race is very important and as a result, we have to constantly be conscious of race in many to all interactions that occur in society and as a result, society will improve

3. Post-race (again, I don’t have good names for 2 or 3)- Race isn’t important to focus on and the closer we get to ignoring it, the better society as a whole will become

1 & 2 have the same premise but different intentions. 2 & 3 have the same intentions but different premises and I think the distinctions aren’t nearly as acknowledged as they should be in politics.

The importance is with 2 & 3 because they both agree 1 isn’t good. However, they both have their own internal conflict in reaching their goal.
2 is more likely to find racial injustices when they occur or at least faster than 3 would. However, 2 is stuck in a mindset that will always be racially oriented and never truly get past that construct
3 is more likely to maintain a lifestyle that doesn’t care or focus on race like 2 but that makes 3 far more blind to when a racial injustice could occur because of group 1
2 & 3 are more understandable depending on where you think society currently is. If you think group 1 is still very much empowered, you are more likely to take the group 2 approach imo. If you think society has addressed a lot of its racism and needs to enter a new phase, you would lean towards 2. The groups are disbursed differently through each party but most people just lump 2&3 into non racists or 1&2 as racists (that video) or 1&3 as racists (silence is violence). Approach matters a lot
here.

I agree that's broadly true, though different racial theories also exist between and within those groups.

The key distinctions I tend to make are between race as a biological fact, as a social fact, or as a blanket falsity. Your Group 1 would definitely see race as a biological fact, but some of the language of the corporate anti-racists I've been critical of recently uses very similar phrasing despite describing race in terms of social facts. Unqualified language about "whiteness" inevitably lending certain qualities, for example, is very biological (although it's always explained as a consequence of social forces, which doesn't follow) compared to a whiteness that *probably leads to a certain kind of experience,* which is coherent. The important element of the latter is of course the potential for change.

I respect the opposition to racial "colorblindness" insofar as it means acknowledging the effects of past discrimination with the intention of dissolving the category in the future, but I do think it's dangerous to instead flip the category on its head and try to make it a positive one. A bit of 2 and 3 I suppose is the best way forward.

Really? I didn’t remember that from your pic. Even I’m not that white. I do have grey eyes though. My son is less white than me (genetically) though and he’s got light hair so far. Kind of a mix of my curly hair, wife’s super straight Asian hair and his grandfather’s blonde hair. It’s interesting, his is like a light brown.

But I’m white enough looking that my good bud @axhand1e saw a shoop of me that lightened my skin and exclaimed, “he’s white!”

Taika is great. There aren’t many of us Polynesian-Jews but I think we’re pretty great in general.

And holy shit these threads move fast nowadays.
Whoa you're a Poly-Jew too? You learn something new every day. Yeah Taika is great, What We Do In The Shadows is absolutely hilarious, but the first movie I ever saw of his was Eagle Vs Shark and I loved it when it came out.

Pretty sure the reason these threads go so fast is the majority of WR topics these days could be boiled down to a single page of actual discussion instead of the usual thread format of pages 1-4 being dictated by whichever side got there first for snide replies. pages 5-8 the other side pulling what abouts 9-10 actual discussions about the topic after more information came out and 11-v2 racial discussion... no matter the topic.

200lb Ringside punching bag, bench, squat rack, assortment of kettlebells (which I don't really use anymore now that I have everything for barbell training), pull up bar. I probably spent $1,200 in the last month or so trying to find and buy everything. I was just going to go to Dick's and buy everything new, but they were completely out of stock. No dumbbells, no barbells, no kettlebells, no plates, no heavy bags. Just nothing. Then I went online and started reading about the great Gym Equipment Shortage of 2020. I was just too slow off the block I guess.

damn dude...
I have two kettle bells, 53lb and 35, rower, a bench/squat rack. (not the fancy Rogue like equipment), a treadmill for the ole lady and a Dip/Pull up bar mechanism.

body weight work outs are great.

btw, the Brits call push ups, "press ups."

^ it's also true that this isn't the first time those languages have been conflated. "Race realists" often try to make the claim that race is both biological and social, but the social maps onto the biological pretty well because we are well-equipped by evolution to infer deep differences from superficial qualities.

Needless to say, I'm pretty skeptical of that claim (which Greoric would often repeat ad nauseam), though I'm also not an expert.

yea, I got my kettlebells RIGHT BEFORE Covid hit.

they are great for endurance.

I was thinking about investing in a heavy bag and some gloves. yea, if you don't have dumbells and barbells just do a shit load of Pull ups and Dips and body squats.

that's what this guy did, Charlie Hunnam:
"I GO INTO THE GYM AND DO 75 PULL-UPS, 75 DIPS, 150 SQUATS, 150 PUSH UPS, AND THEN 20 MINUTES OF AB WORK. DONE. IT TAKES AN HOUR. I’M IN AND OUT. I SWEAT THE WHOLE TIME."

You forgot Falsedawn memeing on page 1

Also, @luckyshot sorry your Biden VP thread turned into mostly "muh Hillary" and "MiChElLe ObAma iS a MaN dOh". But I'm sure you expected nothing less from the War Room.

Not gonna lie, the Michelle Obama tranny stuff is probably in my top 10 or 15 right-wing pet arguments that piss me off.
